Rogue creamery offers other delicious and much lower priced blues as well. Best for a burger is probably Caveman blue and Smokey Blue (smoked over local hazelnut shells).

The best cheddar cheeze in the state, no the best cheddar cheeze anywhere, was made in Bandon about 20+ years ago. Dang, they had an extra extra sharp that was simply excellent. Nothing like it to be found anywhere.
Tillamook bought the factory in Bandon and closed it. End of that great product. Something not right about this process, Tillamook doesn't want to make it, but they don't want anyone else to make it either?
Not quite ethical even though it might make business sense. Consumers lose, business win by eliminating the competition without providing equal alternative. Just bully power over the market.

The best cheese I've ever tasted was made by a neighbor ...made it from goat's milk with herbs and lemon...soft cheese...you can't buy it anywhere in the world.

That was our family trip my entire childhood. We would head to Bandon from Myrtle Creek, and the first stop was always the Bandon Cheese factory. We would then take cheese curds down to a little secret creek and catch sea run cutthroat.

As a note, a new creamery has opened in the old space, called Face Rock Creamery. It's legit. Their aged cloth bound cheddar is 2nd domestically only to Cabot cloth bound from Vermont. The head cheese maker is the old head cheese maker of the famous Beecher's in Pike's Place in Seattle.

Yeah, but it has taken years. I talked with them every few years and they tell me to give them time.
But I am glad to get the input. Time to go back perhaps!

It takes time to get a solid artisanal cheese shop up and running. I think they have hit their stride.

I think it coincides with people not saying "cut the cheese" anymore....sort of like smelling strong Indica skunk and thinking ….that smells so good!

First thing I thought about when I saw this picture was...." Is he wearing his red or black Air Jordans?" Nice of you to throw a party for your sisters prom though! Confucius says...man with long mustache gets tangled up with laces!

Apparently trump is getting better at using a sharpie. He should stick to portraits and lay off the weather maps.

Looking back, I almost wish I had gone to WSU for their cheese program. That Cougar Gold is some of my favorite.

Ok, but who makes all the other cheeses?

Man does not live on head cheese alone.

Oregon State is heavy into cheese making and makes their own cheeses.

It's not as old or as well established as the Washington St program. And yes, Cougar gold is legit, even for a cheese snob like me (I've tried over 4,000 different varieties).

It's not easy to milk a robot. You have to be very very careful.
