his numbers were better than CJ's last year

I was surprised to see that Hield is only 15 months younger than CJ. He was 24 as a rookie

He’s not a name brand enough for him.

....but, but - CJ can create his own offense. That makes him way more valuable. :rolleyes3:

Buddy's production is almost identical to CJ's. Do you think CJ is worth more than $20M?

I didn't ever post he wasn't better. Simply said he was making superstar money. I then posted the top 10 saleries for comparison. Just saying if he is making as much as true superstars are, something is wrong with the league. You are always kinda angry towards me aren't you? You always kinda come sideways at me, like I stole your milk money or something. Did I hurt you at one point on here and its kinda stuck with you? And I don't think calling somebody "clueless" is a real insult, so I'll let that one slide kid.

It wasn’t an insult, so you got one thing out of it.

Wow. Teams are going to regret some of these contracts for role players once that sweet sweet Chinese money disappears and lowers the salary cap.

Really didn’t think Brown would get paid. Thought Boston would offer him $90million and wait until Summer if it is not accepted.

They had to overpay though, otherwise Atlanta would have offered him a max next Summer anyway.

Don't these teams realize the China money is going away. That's like 15-20% of the revenue

Nah. Nowhere near as bad as 2016 contracts.

I like Jaylen Brown as well. But, he really is a glue guy kind of role player.

Not quite as many as in 2016. But there are still some really godawful contracts being handed out. There are some GMs that will probably be fired over these in a couple of seasons.

Hield is a better player than Brown now and will be through the duration of both contracts. Jesus what an overpay.

I don’t think these are bad deals. It reminds me more of when Steven Adams received $25million per year. With his offensive limitations he’s probably not worth that money but it’s also not a terrible contract that you would need to attach picks to get rid of and you could easily find a few teams in the league that would be willing to take it.

In case of Brown and Siakam their ceiling is much, much higher. In Hield’s case that’s a good contract that half teams in the league would gladly take.

There’s also added value in extending your own players. Boston weren’t choosing between spending $27million a year on Brown and giving the same money to another player, they will be capped out so all they were choosing between was whether they preferred to keep Brown or maintain flexibility of being able to offer full MLE and avoid tax. It’s a fairly straightforward choice. Delaying this until next Summer would have been pointless because he 100% was getting a max offer in 2020.

The interesting thing to me about all this is what are the implications for Zach and the Blazers next year?

I like the Hield contract, and I like Siakam and Brown as players, but really think their contracts are shit. Won't argue with you though since I don't see either of us changing our minds.
