<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SBoyd415 @ Jul 18 2007, 04:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I wouldn't completely rule out the playoffs (We still have our core players + Jason Richardson was injured for a long time last season and we still made it) but I don't think trading him away helped us too much. With Richardson gone, a heavier load is going to be put on Monta Ellis & Matt Barnes. As much as I like Brandan Wright, I wouldn't have traded him for a player like Jason Richardson, and I doubt he's going to have an immediate impact on our rebounding like some people say...</div>Matt Barnes is a free agent, so it's not definite that he will be back next season. Plus, with teams such as the Grizzlies, Hornets, T'Wolves, and Blazers getting better, the Warriors will have a harder time getting into the playoffs. They still have a chance though.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SBoyd415 @ Jul 18 2007, 05:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Matt Barnes is looking for way too much money. I'm just presuming no teams willing to dish out that much money for him and he'll end up staying with the Warriors for less. As for teams getting better, I have to agree with the Hornets, but there is no way the Blazers and Timberwolves will be contenders. The Blazers are still way too young, and the Timberwolves are missing some big pieces (plus no one knows if KG is actually going anywhere) The loss of J-Rich will make it a bit harder on the Warriors though.</div>I think with the T'Wolves adding one of the best defenders in the nation last year, and with Foye and McCants growing, this team will get closer to the the playoffs, if KG stays. With the Blazers, yes they are very young, but they have some players who can contribute. Oden is a little more NBA ready than people claim he is. I think he will come in and be a solid defensive prescense while contributing on offense. Aldridge and Roy have a year under their belt and know what they are doing now and could possibly be looking at big years. You can't really rule out this team. But, teams like the Grizzlies and the Hornets will be serious playoff contenders and will definatly make it a lot harder for the Warriors to make the playoffs.

An increase in minutes would mean and increase in productivity.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I think you are overrating the Blazers just because they got Oden. I realize they have an amazing core of young players, but they are just too young to do well (if they made it) in the playoffs.</div>Trust me, I'm not overrating the Blazers. I say they have a shot, but I also have a bet going with a friend that they won't make the playoffs this season. Yes, they are very young, but they aren't a team you can just rule out.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>You're also forgetting the Clippers. They had a good season last year and almost got that 8th seed, but I'm still not worried about the Warriors chances.</div>Yes, the Clippers are another team to lookout for. But, they have some troubles at PG.Right now though, I think the Grizzlies and Hornets will be the two biggest contenders of the team that didn't make the playoffs last season.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GrizzFanTaylor @ Jul 18 2007, 09:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>A lot of people seem to think Wright is going to step right in and solve their problems and contribute, but really, he is one of the more unpolished players in the Draft. Sure, the potential is there, but it will take a little longer to develop IMO. With that said, I think the Warriors kissed their playoffs for this season trading J-Rich for Wright.</div>Marco, I think is about equal to last year's J-Rich and about 10 mil cheaper. He's a better shooter, but he isn't as as good a penetrator as J-Rich. Defensively, about tied. Marco is the better ballhandler/passer and J-Rich is the better rebounder. Let's say Wright isn't ready, we are as big as we were last year, but Biedrins is still developing and growing, Lamse may be able to step in, and Powell will defenitely play more. It's as good a team as last year's on paper.

(22-60 last year? C'mon...)</div>The Grizzlies had some serious injury problems, coaching changes, game-style changes, and the franchise was being sold all last season, so not all of it was because of talent. With a healthy Gasol, added to Milicic and Miller, a new set of PGs, and our young promising players (Gay, Warrick, Kinsey) this Grizzlies team will be very competitive next season.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SBoyd415 @ Jul 19 2007, 03:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I don't really know of the injury problems, so maybe you can fill me in, but there are few teams that go from a 22-60 record to playoffs in one year...Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick (I don't know about Kinsey) will be big for the Grizzles in the future, though...</div>Pau Gasol missed the first 23 games of the season. By the time he came back, the Grizzlies already held the worst record in the NBA and it was hard to gain back momentum. Mike Miller missed 12 games last season. We had PG issues with Kyle Lowry missing the last 72 games and Stoudamire missing 12 games, as well as Atkins missing some. The Grizzlies have a new coach, a healthy Gasol, a new offensive style, and young players looking to have big years, plus some solid pickups in Conley Jr. and Milicic. The Grizzlies will be a playoff contender next season.
