I'm happy. We get a new franchise PG to run our new offense for our new coach. I think Conley will fit in perfectly with our offense, and I really like the direction the franchise is heading in.
Well...franchise PG is a overstatement....hes not proven yet but he can become very good. Im kindve frustrated cause now the free agents out there are mainly guards and perimeter players. Theres Darko and Magliore though...Hopefully we can still pull off a trade to get a big man with Pau...And our offense is somewhat new, but as far as the type of offense isnt new....we were uptempo last year with Barone, we are going to be uptempo next season with Iavaroni...
I just listened to the over-the phone conference with Mike Conley, and turns out hes got alotve faimly already in the Memphia area. Hes got a aunt, uncle and two cousins who live in Bartlett, and some other relatives in Arkansas. He also said he'll apologize to the Tigers for beating them in the tourney :biggrin: .Im starting to really like this guy, unlike the other draftees, he actually knows Memphis and its style and all that good stuff. He also said Memphis was the place he wanted to go because of the close family, the style, the need at PG and the players who are already here.
He really does seem like a great kid. He handles himself on the court nicely, and he is a good leader. He also WANTS to be in Memphis. I'm very happy with our pick. I hope Gasol is happy with it to, because when it's all said and done, I really want Gasol to be a Grizzly.Conley will have a veteran mentor in Stoudamire, who is sourced to be a great lockeroom teammate. He will also have Lowry, our 1st PG pick last year, to give him some competition, which will accelerate both of their development.I'm excited!
You guys are lucky. Mike Conley is such a good player. I really wanted Phoenix to find some way to trade up in the draft so we could get him. I think he would have been a great backup PG that we need for Nash, and then when Nash retires, he would be a great starter. Oh well. Hopefully ATL wins again in the lotto and gets a high pick so we can get OJ Mayo or somebody...
Congratulations guys, as a fan of this guy since forever, yes he's a great guy, a real gem off the court and on the court. You guys will fall in love with him from the first game of the season, promise
I think he will do well for the Grizz. It's the right situation for him. I think we are gonna see a ton of alley-opps and highlights Conley to Warrick.
I love the pick of Conley Jr. With this being a young team, that has alot of good talent on it, he will do more than well enough for them. He works well with big men in the half court, like he has with Greg Oden for years. Now he will come in to help Gasol, and I think these two are great candidate's to run the pick and roll with each other in the half court setting. In the open court, Conley will be able to push the ball and set up the athletes like Gay, Warrick and the trailer in Mike Miller quite often. I really like this drafting for the Grizzlies.
