Just want to hear some general thoughts on this guy...I think he will be a decent guy coming off the bench but he's got to cut down on his weight. He's been up and down over his whole college career with his weight issues. I think he's comparable to a Mike Sweetney with more of a jump shot. I think he will be an interesting player to have coming off the bench though.

I dont think he'll ever be great. Reminds me of Clearence Weatherspoon. 10/5/2 guy at best IMO.

Yeah 10/5/2 as a starter also......which he won't be in Boston.Totally off topic, but great avatar MardyC. Couldn't agree more, I have footjoy shoes/glove and they are the best in those golf categories.

Decent pick at #35. High energy, hard worker, mature player. I hope he does well!

not a bad risk for the 2nd round. If he can't stay in shape.. easy to say bu-bye.

I think that he is a pretty good talent. He isnt going to be anything special in the NBA because he is a little short, but he is a guy to come in off the bench and bring a whole lot of energy. And he does have a pretty good offensive game.

Iv'e never seen LSU play so I can't comment on how skilled he is but I can say that he looks like he can help the celtics out by comming in the game at times and giving them a lot of energy in the frontcourt, wait.. is Glen Davis any agressive? id have to guess he is, because with that big body of his, being agressive only comes to his advantage so if he can then play in the right way and play well when doc chooses to play him, then he can somehow be effective when needed to be, can't say this is a bad draft pick then.

He's already lost 20 pounds since the college season is over. Why does he have to lose more weight?

Because he still has a little extra baggage. [IMG] But I like Big Baby a lot, and I have been one of the guys defending him over the past few months. I almost put him at 30 on my mock draft, as a matter of fact. I think Davis was a nice pick, I think he can play right away and play maybe 7-10 minutes a night behind Perk. He's tough, he's a hard worker, he can score in the NBA, he's unbelievably strong, and he's a great locker room guy. He's one of those personalities that becomes an instant fan favorite, much like our old friend Delonte West (although I don't think Davis is as crazy as Delonte haha).

I'm happy with the Big Baby pick.

Good point@potg, if there's anything he should be doing it's probley to hit the weights often as possible right now, strength and weight together is all the more better.

He still could use to lose a few more pounds playoff and also he's been up and down with his weight his whole collegiate career. I'd like to see him as thin as possible.

I didn't even want Big Baby really. At that spot - I would of prefered Marc Gasol over Glen Davis. Hopefully Glen can contribute to the team and become a dominate center. Now what if he was the next Shaq!?

I love Davis, because I know he'll play tough for us no matter what, he has a lot of heart. He is very strong in the post, he could help play some man defense in there. He's also I high energy guy, and we need that in the second unit where we obviously don't have as much talent.

Apparently Glen Davis ain't too happy by going to the Celtics. There's a write up in the Times Picayune sports section; apparently he flicked away the card telling him that he was traded to the Celtics. He was probably just disappointed because he never worked out for them. It's a shame he wasn't picked in the 1st; hell, he shouldn't have even left school. But, I'm sure he'll give ya'll 100% and will fight to stay on the roster.http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/....xml&coll=1

hmm, that's sort of strange, seeming how Seattle wouldn't be much better. They were third worst. ha. it could have been some other reason.

That doesn't mean he doesn't like Boston, it just means he's disappointed he wasn't a first round pick and didn't understand why he didn't get picked by a team he worked out for. I don't think this is a problem at all.

They don't have much in common, Weatherspoon was a good rebounder and had a nice mid-range shot, Davis is an obese battering ram who uses strength/nice touch inside. Glen Davis is around 265 pounds now. And will probably lose much more before training camp.

I like this pick alot.. He'll be a solid backup for now and he should be able to contribute some right away. He can score, rebound, and he'll play his ass off every game. ^^ He's similiar to Sweetney and I guess you could say that Davis could be what Sweetney wouldve been had he worked to get in shape and improve his game.
