Officially depressed about how good Doncic and Porzingis are looking. I can see Dallas being better than us THIS season, never mind in the future.
Tell you what's looking really good right now: the 2018 draft. Doncic and Trae Young - looking All-NBA Ayton, JJacksonJr, SGA - looking All-Star-Ish Anfernee, Luke Kennard, Landry Shamet, Robert Williams, Kevin Knox and more all looking like good starter level Even second rounders Mitchell Robinson, Jevon Carter, Jalen Brunson, Bruce Brown and Hamidou Diallo are contributing.
The problem is Batum contract doesn't expire, and they just signed another terrible one in Rozier. They may have one of the worst records in the league and be paying the luxury tax. I can't think of an NBA team in a worse position.
The revelation of the first week is Towns. He is the clear MVP of the league as of now. He has the highest PER among qualified players and a 2-0 record, both wins on the road. Speaking of PER, Whiteside is 4th and Lillard is 6th leaguewide. Harden, who has gotten off to an AWFUL start, has a lower PER than Michael Carter-Williams. A major bright spot is Markelle Fultz. He looks like a solid NBA player with upside. In the "are they for real?" category is the Phoenix Suns. They should be 3-0 right now but 2-1 is just fine. Beating the Clippers without Ayton or Rubio was impressive. Will be interesting to see if the Pistons move Derrick Rose into the starting lineup. He looks like he's practically back to MVP form. Also- Trae Young looks like an NBA Superstar ahead of schedule. If Hawks had gotten Zion, they'd be in the NBA Finals as soon as next year.
Shoutout to Monty Williams! I'm more than impressed with his debut coaching the Suns...I'd have pegged them to be much worse than they are
I made a case all summer that the kings would have a shot at the 8 seed, I may want to take that one back...
Sabonis is what surprises me. That dude is a beast and so freaking efficient. I wish our zags guy could be like that
