I always do. What's the point of being a Blazers' fan if you can't have fun in the face of adversity? ;)

I don't think he ever will be traded for the duration of his contract...

CJ is going to shut up the trade talk soon enough...book it. He'll take over a string of games and get in a groove. He's still used to playing off Chief and Mo and Nurk….our core now is not in the groove it will get into in my view.

This I agree with you on. There is no reason to sign CJ to an extension if they were even remotely interested in trading him.

Or at least, for the duration of Neil Olshey's employment as GM

    I like the KNK option.

However, I'm not sure I'd do that trade. Maybe something like this:
    Portis ($15M) + Nitikilina ($4.8M) + Robinson ($1.6M) => CJ ($27.5M) + Tolliver ($2.5M) + 2020 Pick

I'd prefer Portis over Randle... but it looks like Portis doesn't have a large enough contract to make a legal trade.

Robinson is the real treasure in the trade scenario. He'd have to be included in a CJ trade IMO.

I don't think CJ's going anywhere but things can change quickly. Clippers signed Blake to a massive contract and traded him right away too.

Blake is a legitimate All-star talent. Trading CJ for Blake would immediately improve Portland's TEAM.

But he is legitimately always injured. We'd have a great team the way that Golden State currently has a great team.

The problem is that CJ is a chucker, and not an efficient one.

He's averaging 20 ppg on 40.5% from the field, with a PER of 12.2 and an eFG% of 45.5.

He's not a good defender. He's not a good passer. He's a ball hog. Really the best thing he's got going for him is that he's best friends with Dame.

what makes you think that? Do you believe posters here are so stupid they can't remember past the last 6 games? Or is it possible that their opinions on CJ have actually been formed over the last 4+ seasons and 330 games? In the years when he's spent times in his grooves and times not in his grooves...while consistently being a ball-stopper and poor defender, grooved or ungrooved.

And the really interesting thing is that Dame has evolved so much over the past seven seasons. He's a better defender, a better passer, and consistently an amazing leader.

CJ is the same dude that he was four years ago.

I would argue he's worse. If trends continue, this season will be the 4th season in a row where his assist % has fallen. It's now 13.6% as opposed to 13.8% last year and 21.6% (!!!!) in 2015-16. He's also putting up the worst turnover percentage of his career at 12.7% and having the highest usage % of his career at 28%. He's been brutal this season outside of one game and there's no sugarcoating how bad his play has hurt the team.

One thing though you got to remember. CJ goes through streaks. Always has probably always will. That being said. At this point of the season he can have three good games and put himself right in the middle of that graph. However.... He can stink up the following three games and put himself right back where he is now. Just sayin.
