You replace Dirk with KG last year and there's no way the MAvs lose to Golden State. KG isn't getting shut down by Stephen Jackson.
They wouldn't trade Dirk for KG, but it's true.. if that were to happen it would probley only making them better than they already are, If Garnett ends up in Dallas and then plays Along side Dirk then id have to be a bit worried if I was the team getting ready to play against them.

At least one of them will be dealt.

You put those two together, then yes. But straight up, I don't see any significant increase in wins or a ring. The odds would be the same.
No offense, but this thread is a joke. Almost every team under the salary cap is trying to make a trade for the guy. In fact, Chris Mullin was talking about pursuing Garnett because of all the money the Warriors got by trading away Jason Richardson's contract...<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>June 29, 2007 - 12:03 pmSan Francisco Chronicle -Along with Brandan Wright, the Warriors also acquired a $10 million trade exception from the Bobcats, they now become a major player in this summer's trade market. The Warriors now have the ability to absorb contracts up to $10 million while offering a team instant financial relief. This could of course lead to another deal.Chris Mullin acknowledged speaking to the Timberwolves this week, presumably about Kevin Garnett.</div>

His defense and mental toughness would prove to be invaluable on a team that lacks leadership outside of their coach.

People seem to bring up the off ones and forget about the ones he has led the Mavs in and shown his 4th quarter prowess. The only thing KG would bring is defense but he's not going to put us over the top himself in a straight up trade for Dirk. He's not that better then Dirk where we improve that drastically, odds go up. I don't see how mental toughness is a trait for KG when he has yet to show it in big game situations. Bring up he hasn't had that many opportunities, he still hasn't shown any to me.
I wish that KG would just go ahead an opt out tommorow so we don't have to hear these ridiculous rumors much longer. Dallas is a ridiculous choice, they are a championship caliber team right now. Despite a disapointing first round loss the Mavericks should be back with vengance come November. At least Pheonix was somewhat reasonable.
