that's according to bbref and I don't believe it at all. Curry didn't spend 224 minutes at SF while Turner wasn't playing a single minute at the position. And CJ didn't spend 29% of his time at SF either; that would mean he played 690 minutes there. So then, according to bbref, CJ spent 20 games worth of his time at SF. That's just loony-tunes. 82games says Curry spent 2% of the time as Portland's SF and CJ spent none. Meanwhile Turner spent 75% of his time at SF. That matches what I saw 'you are what you can defend' is the controlling factor. On those rare occasions at the end of a game when Dame-CJ-Curry were all on the floor together, Dame was the most likely to defend the SF because of his lower body strength. And that was only when the other team had a SF on the floor. Most times, both teams would have 3 guard lineups Simons isn't big enough, strong enough, or experienced enough...yet... to get any consistent minutes at SF unless the other team is running a 3 guard lineup
They tried it for one game in the playoffs last year, but players were getting too tired and missing shots
He's getting plenty of minutes in my book. Sees the floor every game does some good some bad against the second unit. Just about right.
any word on how long? Last i read/heard is he is sore all over, but don't know if he has an a actual injury or if he is just hurt.
It's Aminu vs Collins all over again. It's going to be years. Look at tonight's game. Ant takes 12 shots and gets 20 points, playing 24 minutes. McCollum has a good/great game by his standards this season plays 42 minutes, takes 23 shots for 23 points. It's insanity not playing a really serious perhaps Klay Thompson/ Ray Allen level shooting guard and instead we play CJ McCollum who's not shooting well at all. If Ant can't get more minutes than CJ now, it's never going to happen. CJ can't be much worse.
Personally Im not sure anfernee is ready for 30+ minutes a night, he looks gassed quite often bu the end of his 6-8 minutes stints as he gets stronger and his body matures he’ll get more minutes.
I'm waiting for Ant to get scouted. ATL started trapping him a bit, but Dame staying on the floor helped a lot. The level of trust Dame has in him already has to be a huge boost of confidence.
If CJ is on this team, yes, I think it's never going to happen that Ant is a starter and averages more minutes than CJ. What do you think? Suddenly Stotts wakes up and puts a guy making $30 million on the bench? You think that's going to happen? edit: The alternative of it never happening is that it happens at some point. You tell me the scenario where CJ is still on the team down the line and somehow Anfernee Simons becomes a starter. CJ is on a contract that pays him $35 million 4 seasons after this one. Anfernee Simons is on a contract that pays him $5.7 million 3 seasons after this one.
