Serious question: Will these proposed changes appeal to anyone other than diehard soccer fans? Is that the audience the league is chasing, assuming even Morey can't screw that up?
I as well as about everyone i know has been advocating this for years. Problem is the idea and why. Lots of people want a shorter season with no B2B's and better quality competition. But this might not be what we were thinking.
These proposals seem like gimmicks that don't address the real problems with the modern NBA. To fix the NBA the first and most important thing they need to do is re-negotiate with NBAPA and don't go back to playing until all contracts are Non-Guaranteed. An NBA player having to play hard (including defense) to earn their paycheck is the number one problem. The effort level between modern players and decades past is glaring. No one wants to watch players moping up and down the floor jacking threes and playing no defense. Secondly they need to address the officiating. Refs interject themselves way too much into games. They need to let play happen and let the players play defense. If the NBA did this, then they would be on the right track to making the NBA much more watchable - non of this in-season tournament circus needed.
