Haven't eaten there but the pies look good and the place is always crowded. https://www.banningsrestaurant.com/Piesandcakes Not sure they make special order though.
One of my neighbors out here in the woods is retired from a career as a baker for Fred Meyers....I've picked up some good pies there over the years. He says it's not the place, it's the baker. Same bakery can have a great pie of a bad one....depends on the shift...never buy the ones on the floor though....they're old...get one from the bakers counter
My wife suggested Shari's but I can't eat their food so I'm not going to waste money on a pie I probably can't eat.
I don't see a link from you to Amazon anywhere in this thread. Am I blind? Well yes, I'm partially blind.

And pie – that magical amalgam of pastry stuffed with fruit or meat and baked to warm, flaky perfection – is no exception. Thanks to our fair city’s sweet baking scene, you can find pretty much any kind of pie you desire, so long as it’s in season. Dedicated to the best pies and pie shops, the map below serves up some of Portland’s most exceptional slices. These include sweet pies filled with fruit, cream, and/or nuts as well as savory pies that cram as much meat as possible between two golden crusts. Note that crumbles, tarts, and cakes (including cheesecake) may receive some sort of recognition, but only if the shop already nails its pie. And don’t even consider bringing up pizza. The points on this map guide are not ranked; rather, they’re organized geographically. Still working my way through this one from when you originally posted it. So far the leading candidates are Bernhard Bakery on East Broadway and Baker & Spice on Capitol Hwy.
Went to Helen Bernhard's Bakery on S.E. Broadway and got a decent mincemeat pie. Not the best I've ever had but the best I've had in say five or ten years. Can't remember where I got the best one from, dammit.
Hey, @Lanny, my new Perfect Pie book has a mincemeat pie recipe. Too late for Thanksgiving, but mincemeat is fairly sturdy and keeps well, so if you want to order one from me on some future occasion, send a message and we'll see what we can arrange.
I had three pieces of mince meat pie. Each time my blood sugar went thru the roof. Had to quit eating it. Dammit
