... I don't. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Al Jefferson is one hell of a trio that gives you three different types of players offensively. We need to surround them with a couple veteran role players, but we don't need to go out and overpay for Garnett, O'Neal, Marion, or whoever. There aren't enough touches to go around there, and I don't know if 4 stars would work. We have our 3 big pieces, we have some young talent, we just need 1-2 more quality veterans. We do not need a second blockbuster deal.

Sign a veteran with the MLE (I'm hoping for Brevin Knight), then try to work a deal for a solid big. Also think about this: will Wyc really be willing to pay 4 players big time money (Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Al Jefferson's extension next summer, and another big deal via trade)? I don't know about that, it's a lot of money. Then you also have to think about a couple years from now when we have to give Rondo his pay-day, Gomes, TA, and Gerald if he's still here.

I think dealing Theo/filler(s) for a decent rotation big and another small contract would be fine. It would give us a complete rotation and it wouldn't cripple us financially.

I don't think another star can be brought in. I think we could get a decent player for using Ratliff to facilitate a big time trade, but that's about it. There simply aren't enough pieces left to bring in Gasol or JO unless their value decreases for some reason.

One guy that comes to mind is Brendan Haywood, he asked for a trade and he could be had pretty cheap. He's huge, he'd fit better in our system because we aren't run and gun like Washington, he rebounds, and he blocks shots. Perk and Haywood would be a pretty solid center rotation.

Wizards aren't run and gun, either. We actually run an offense called the 'Princeton Offense'. We may put up a lot of points and we CAN run, but run and gun is what teams such as Phoenix and Golden State do. You guys can have Etan Thomas, though. :no1:

You guys are definitely more of an up-tempo team than slowed down team, and you certainly don't run the Princeton offense. Georgetown runs the Princeton offense, and it basically rids of any chance for a player to take it 1-on-1. A lot of backdoor cuts, a lot of ball movement. Washington's offense really isn't like that.

EDIT: No thanks to Etan Thomas, I agree with LL33.

I think I know my team better than a Boston Celtics fan, and just because GTown runs it, it obviously means the Wizards definitely don't run it. [IMG] We do have backdoor cuts, and we try to get everyone involved. The problem is when you run the Princeton offense, you need a passing big man.. and that's why a lot of people think we don't run it, but we do. (for GTown, that big man was Jeff Green). Also, when we don't have an opportunity to run on the fast break.. we run the Princeton offense. It's not about being a more slowed down team than a fast-paced team.

Of course the Wizards are an up-tempo team. The Wizards do however run the Princeton offense with a NBA twist to it. (Eddie Jordan's trademark) Wizards do push the ball more than most teams but they don't compare to Pheonix and Golden State. We just tend to put up shots very quickly with Arenas and Jamison chucking up perimiter shots at will.

This is one of the main reasons the Wizards suffer so much when Caron is injured. Caron makes mid-range jumpshots pretty much automatically and combine that with his slashing ability you get a great addition to any squad. When Arenas and Jamison's perimter shots aren't falling we see Caron get the ball very quickly.

Exactly, so therefore Washington really doesn't run the Princeton, like I said.

They do run the Princeton offense though. It's not exactly what Georgetown runs it has been adapted for the NBA but it's foundation is the Princeton offense. There are only a few changes made to make it compatible with the pro's.

GArenas is saying that we are, in the sense of an up-tempo team, put up tons of points and love to score the ball. That doesn't mean, however, that we just play 'helter skelter' on offense.

Like "Hibachi time," chucking 3's, and running 1-on-1 sets. Oh ok.

I have to agree with CB32 here, the Wizards do not run the Princeton offense during games. That might be what they learn during practice, and what they are supposed to run, but when they get out onto the court it looks nothing like the princeton offense the Georgetwon runs, NC State ran just two years ago, and what Princeton has run for years. Washington's offense doesn't have the precision passing and ball movement that the princeton offense features, it doesn't have the beautiful backdoor cuts that the Princeton offense has, and like has been mentioned it doesn't have the passing big man that is a staple of those offenses. Arenas holds the ball for longer periods of time, much unlike the princeton offense is supposed to have. They also shoot way to much from deep off of just 1 pass for the possession. That's not to say they play helter skelter like the Warriors, but it looks nothing like the Princeton offense. As to Washington's offense not comparing to Phoenix's your right, The Phoenix offense is actually much more structured and smoother than the Wizards offense is. Phoenix runs the pick and roll offense to perfection, with Nash and Amare being the center piece. Off of that they always have options as Nash is able to read from that pick and roll what he wants to do, whether it be hitting Bell, both Jones and Barbosa for a three point shot, or Marion on a back door cut to the basket, or just give it to Amare on his roll to the basket off of the pick and roll. That pick and roll offense is ran very smoothly, happens very fast, but is actually quite structured in it's movement. From the games I have watched they do try to get out and run, and they do play very fast, which leaves Brandan Haywood having problems. He is best as a rebounder and shot blocker, and at the tempo they play he is left out of position at times, especially on defense, to be able to control the paint defensively with his shot blocking. Haywood needs a change of scenary, so he can play to his biggest strengths defensively. I definately wouldn't mind him in Orlando, and moving Dwight over to the power forward spot. Boston would be a nice place for him also, where he would be a good addition to the defense of that team.

That's not an offensive set, we see time and time again Gilbert just bring it up court and shoot, pass it off the Caron, Antawn, or DeShawn then on eo f them shoots it, or drive to the basket and get fouled. Golden State and Pheonix push off of rebounds, during the 06'-07' season you would rarely see that happen in Washington.

Camby is older and more injury prone than Allen. And the Nuggets aren't gonna trade Camby for Theo straight up, the C's would have to include something else. Not a half bad idea depending on the cost.

I dunno, that's why I think Rasheed would be a nice fit. His biggest contribution would be on the defensive end, along with bringing emotion and energy to the team. At the same time though he CAN score..he just doesn't need to and doesn't care much if he doesn't get the ball as often.Camby would be a good fit for alot of the same reasons.I'd also throw the name of Anderson Varejao out there, but it would have to be a sign and trade...and more then likely Gerald Green would have to be included in this type of deal...though I do think it's be worth it from your side. I think he'd fit pretty good.

Varejao is decent, but he plays out of control at times. Remember in the ECF when he tried to take it coast to coast and lost the ball out of bounds when he had a wing right there. Ha. Maybe Theo is healthy? Jefferson could play the 5 at times with Davis at the 4 providing the muscle.

yeah was only thinking of Camby because it is rumored that the Nugs wanna dump some salary, so it'd be worth checking into.Sure you pay Theo more this year, but GM's look past just 1 year.total savings is closer to 13 mill over the life of the contracts.
