In the last 10 games McCollum has been averaging 24 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.8 assist while shooting almost 43% from the 3 point line.

Because we talked in here about a trade, he must have felt the relentless social pressure forum members bring upon him and miraculously improved.

or that he started off in a slight slump and is now playing like he has before for the Blazers like some of us said. :bgrin:

Props to CJ. Hopefully he keeps it up because his chucking can be contagious. Last night for example he missed Melo on an obvious swing pass to do his one on four thing. So next time down the court Melo itching for a shot does something similar taking an ill advised shot outside the flow. It's amazing how good this team is when they move the ball and dumbfounding when they fail to do so for stretches.

Yeah - he's actually playing better than Dame over that span.

Let's hope he's playing even better when he's eligible to be traded.

Does that mean his trade value is high enough to get a good player back ? Nah i'm kidding

As that link makes clear, the player who's playing like crap right now is Anfernee. He does nothing but score anyway, and right now he's shooting bricks.

CJ's D has been surprising this season. He's getting steals and even blocking shots.

    GO CJ!

I know it's a radical idea, but is it possible he's not as bad as the first 10 games, nor as good as the last 10 games? That he's actually somewhere in between? The reality is that somewhere in between those two 10 game samples is about where he's been throughout his career

another reality is that the Blazers were 1-6 over the first 7 of those 10 games, so CJ getting hot was having no impact on winning. It was Dame starting to play healthy again, Melo having a major impact, Hood maintaining high efficiency, and Whiteside doing work that have resulted in this 3 game winning streak. CJ is only 5th on the team in winshares, winshares/48, box plus/minus, and value over replacement. CJ leads the team in FGA but he's only 7th in TS% and 6th in eFG%; those are far from optimal numbers

After the Melo deal, this team should have had some coaching intensity from Terry and staff. Basic college basketball is not "beneath" these guys.

He has already contributed more than I thought he would this whole season to be honest. SOOOOO young. Scouts have locked in on his game. He has such a great attitude and work ethic I think he will be fine.

I've seen a big difference in CJs body language over the last 3 games...he's got a lot more hop in his step and seems to have embraced becoming a two way player..we're not trading him..book it. CJ is a guy who can shoot you back into a game probably better than anybody on our roster right now. He's passing the ball more since Melo because he trusts Melo

To many posters in here put unrealistic expectations on him. He still needs time to learn and develop but when i read some saying start Simons and trade McCollum i just shook my head.

Who's trying to teach him defense? Because they need to try harder. He runs around a lot and waves his arms but seems to have zero effect.

    Gee...

I've been saying if CJ were to get his assist % numbers above 18-20% like they were a few years ago that it would help him to get easier shots because the defense can't collapse on him as much. When I said that it was down around 10%. He's now up to 16.6% which is trending in the right direction!

Funny how the whole offense including CJ performs better when he's not ball stopping the offense.
