That's why the Portland Trail Blazers could be an attractive trade partner for the Grizzlies as they look to deal Iguodala before the February trade deadline."
Here're some Iguodala highlights from Last Season, not 5 years ago. I don't see an age problem, just problems for guys that are trying to score on him.
I think teams will stay patient knowing eventually they will just buy him out or settle for a second. I’d be surprised if anyone surrendered a first. I know I wouldn’t even though he’d be an ideal fit.
It seems it would be hard for teams to pay much for Iggy as he is going on 36 and will be an unrestricted free agent next year. I can see him going back to GS for a year or two before retiring after this year.
Unless we are the team that gives up a 1st, which we should absolutely not do, then there is zero chance of Iggy being a Blazer. The reason for this is we don't have the right contracts to make it appealing enough for Memphis to trade with us versus other teams. Our best offer without a 1st would be Bazemore/2020 2nd (as long as it's not 56-60)/2022 2nd for Iggy. The problem with this is that it would add an additional $2.1 million to Memphis' payroll. Meanwhile a team like Dallas could offer Courtney Lee plus a couple 2nds which would save Memphis over $4.3 million instead of adding to their payroll. On top of that, it's not even certain that Iggy would report if traded to the Blazers.
I would venture an educated guess that Olshey would make sure Iggy is ok with the deal before doing any deal, plus Dallas would have to add more salary to make it work. We can also take back another salary from Memphis or get another team involved to make it work.
1) Yeah, obviously Olshey wouldn't trade for Iggy if he's not going to report. I never said he would as I was just raising the possibility that it could be a factor. 2) Dallas is not in the luxury tax and wouldn't be after this trade so no other salary is needed to make it work. I wouldn't have put it in my post if it didn't work. 3) Yes, I'm aware of 3 team trades and other players being involved but it just isn't going to work in this situation unless we overpay by adding a 1st as long as other teams involved can offer better packages.
Whatever details are involved I feel are beyond speculation when it comes to Andre's agent and Memphis front office....I don't understand why Andre wouldn't show up to play with Dame, Melo, etc....he played on team USA with Melo already. One might say Pau Gasol wouldn't want to come here but he did. If Dallas did get him we might be able to get a guy like Curry back for bench scoring...I just think if we are making a serious push, Iguodala would be a big help getting there.
I think it would be better to trade Bazemore for Gallinari that way, we could spend the rest of the season saying Gallo and Melo

I like Iggy, but highlight videos like this are so deceptive. Give me 5 minutes and I could make Bazemore THIS season look like LeBron!
Iggy is a lot more Lebron than Baze is...guy won championship MVP with defense....when's the last time that happened? Which guy do you want guarding Kawhi or Lebron....Baze or Iggy?
Courtney Lee isn't a big man. Bazemore is defense-oriented and at least has the wingspan of a big man.
