I wouldn't give up Hassan for LA. I wouldn't give up Collins either. With Melo, we don't need LA.

I'm not for trading anything for Aldridge unless we're losing it anyway and can't get equivalent value elsewhere.

If Hassan keeps his hands up, we have to keep him. And don't know if drama queen would be good for this team.

If Neil did land Aldridge I suppose that we'd move Carmelo to SF and Hood comes off the bench?

    Dame
    McCollum
    Anthony
    Aldridge
    Whiteside

Anthony is better as a PF and Aldridge is better as a C.

I'd give them Bazemore, Little and a pick.

With Anthony, I just don’t see a fit for Aldridge. Rather have Hassan and his defense & rebounding as well as expiring contract.

I like the idea of him coming back at one level but just don’t see a fit.

Except LA is notorious for not wanting to playing center.

    Why does that matter?
    He's a better matchup at C

That was years ago. Games changed since then.

also, whiteside and melo aren’t under contract for next season. This wouldn’t just be a rental.

If he was willing to play C, and it didn't cost much more than Whiteside and a couple 2nd round picks, sure. But at the same time, his rebounding has dropped off a lot and I don't know if he'd be a good fit. He did leave here kind of having a major diva moment too.

On the plus side, his contract ends next season, so if he's a bad fit it's a short term deal.

I'll be mildly surprised if Portland trades either Whiteside or Bazemore for a player that doesn't have an expiring contract

I bet they trade for a player with an expiring contract *next* year, so they can say that they'll be able to be a player at the next deadline..where they'll trade for a player with an expiring contract the year after that so they can say they'll be able to be a player at the next deadline...and repeat.

I wish Aldridge was willing to come off the bench. He'd be great!

my take is that trading for a Love or a Porter or an Aldridge means Portland would be a taxpayer again next season. And the following year would be risking repeater tax (when Dame & CJ's salaries jump a combined 14M). The Blazers have a chance to get that under control this summer as long as they don't add future salary. How good a team they'd be is questionable though

I wonder if the NBA is going to update their projected salary cap before the trade deadline. IIRC, they usually do. The chatter about the China boycotts has died down and I've been skeptical about the predictions of a 10-15% drop in the cap. But even a static cap is going to make things really tight for teams, especially a team like Portland who has committed 55-60% of their cap to two small guards

I think the projected CAP is going to be much lower.

Not because of China, but because of overall viewership is on the decline.

Blows me away. How can a fan just STOP watching their favorite team play regardless of what's going on? Man I never missed a game growing up until I started working for them. No way I'd miss a game, even when they struggled.
