For the record, I'd rather have a healthy (pre-injury) Wes, than CJ and this isn't an "I hate CJ" thread, but as I've stated on numerous occasions, Wes was my favorite Blazer of all time, that man played with all heart.

Dame/Wes/batum/Aldridge/Rolo was the most balanced lineup we’ve had in the Lillard era.

I would argue that from a scoring standpoint, the current 5 is more balanced. Any one of them is a legit threat to go for 20 on any given night. Couldn't really say that about a squad with Rolo in it.

Big difference to me is 3 out of 5 of those could play lock down defense, now were at maybe 1 out of 5 it you count Whiteside.

Also, 4 of our current 5 can get their own shot at any time, and from anywhere on the floor. Certainly couldn't say that about the 2014 squad.

I'll take Defense over Offense any day, especially when it comes to playoff grind it out basketball. Thats why I love Nurk, he does it all extremely well. Can't wait until he comes back to play with Melo.

I'll take chemistry all day over anything...the core now hasn't had the time to become defense on a string yet or even practiced much . When Nurk is back I think we'll be way better than that squad. That plus Lillard is way better than he was with Lamarcus...it's why I don't think a comparison can be made as a core yet....we're just putting one together...hell I don't think we're done making moves at this point.

    Current Dame > Young Dame
    CJ > Wes
    Hood > Nic
    Melo = Aldridge
    Hassan > Rolo

Nic was supremely overrated. Dude would have one good game out of every five games. Wes was really solid, but not a star. Obviously he was a better defender than CJ, but CJ is a much better all around scorer. Rolo was also extremely overrated. Aldridge and Melo are actually pretty comparable.

You sure about that one? Wes' WS/48, BPM and VORP the years he played with Dame were far superior to anything CJ's ever put up.

I'll put it this way, if Dame is out, CJ can carry the scoring load/playmaking.

Wes could not. Not even a little bit. Wes was a better spot up shooter though. But I think we had a better offensive scheme back when we had Dame/Wes/Nic/LMA/Rolo. It was a cleaner offense. Our offense from the past few years has been super iso focused and really just overall complete ass.

why are people plugging in Nurk instead of Whiteside when the question is "this", not 3 months from now?

Part of that is they focused the offense around their guards skills, but wes could lock up guys defensively, switch and every year added stuff to his game, at one point he wasnt a good shooter, he learned a post game, was never great on the dribble but got better. Im really biased but Wes was awesome.

Disagree. CJ is much more versatile offensively, but Wes + Batum is MUCH better defensively than CJ and Hood.

Boy, we really are in a Carmelo honeymoon, aren't we? Let's see what we say after we''ve played a few good teams.

Because he's our franchise center....Kevin Durant isn't playing now either but when folks talk about the Nets roster...he's part of the conversation. I also think Nurk is closer to getting back than they say. Injuries happen ….Rolo was out for a long stretch his final year here....we still talk about him as the starting center...Alan Crabbe played a lot of games Batum missed. I don't see any point of contention concerning how folks define our roster throughout the Dame period...we know what Dame and Nurk look like compared to Dame and LA...I doubt Hassan will finish the season here with this Blazer core. We're not talking about the Anthony Tolliver substitute center roster either.

Wes was ...and I've said that about 3 times but he was way way worse on offense than Rodney or CJ and CJs defense has improved this season more than Wes' offense ever did....I liked Wes..he was a very good defender....but really, so was Mo Harkless in the same vein....Wes wasn't averaging over 20 pts a game anytime soon. Rodney is a solid two way player...more so than either CJ or Wes in my view...Wes was pretty far from clutch with a game on the line.

Wes in his years with Portland was a 15ppg scorer, and fairly efficient, and Moe was a 7.7ppg scorer. If they’re even defensively ok, give me was 100 out of 100 times.
CJ is a great ISO scorer and shooter, but basically a huge negative defensively. So if your team needs a creator or offense than CJ is the guy for you, but I prefer Wes.
I love Hood he vs Nic is an interesting battle.
