OT Chris Peterson steps down as UW football head coach

Maybe the Cougs can beat the Huskies now?

 

You know, Im not really a college buff by any means, so im not too sure, just going off the guys on the radio. I think they have talent right now on the roster, but might not have a solid future.

I do know kids don't want to sign on where they don't know who the coach is going to be. That's why Peterson stepping down now is much better than waiting until after a bowl. At least it gives Lake and crew time to get a plan together for recruiting in this coming off season.

 

Early signing day is in December now, I dont know if that hurts them in recruiting or not.
I think USC’s talent level isnt as strong as we’d think, but I dont know college recruiting that well.

I think they have one HELL of a roster right now but serious lack of organizational coaching.

 

I think they were on their third string QB pretty early in the year, but point taken.

 

The problem for USC this year is that pretty much everyone knew Helton was likely gone. Recruiting is pretty difficult if recruits think you're going to get fired or bail.

That's the best part of both Oregon and Oregon State's seasons is that both coaches are solidifying themselves as guys who will be there for awhile.

 

Didn't Bellotti kind of go out that way? I thought he would go back into coaching sometime; but it looks as if he enjoyed life outside coaching more. Maybe Peterson also just not enjoying it.

 

Bellotti settled in as a commentator, and I heard from a booster that knew Bellotti well, that he had started to hate the grind of coaching plus recruiting

I'm sure he's pretty relaxed about things with a $45,000/month PERS pension

it's sounding more and more like Helton will keep his job another year. The AD doesn't want to fire him, but there are a lot of boosters that want him gone. Stay tuned

 

Lake runs a good defense, the Huskies will take a step back but I don’t think it’ll be that big of a step.

 

What is so godly about this Lake dude that they absolutely had to get rid of a fantastic coach like Peterson?? Chris Peterson is a name brand coach with great recognition that can easily hold his own. Prodigy assistant coaches moving up fail all the time.

 

According to MB, his retiring from coaching had more to do with his ravaged knees then anything else which is why he never pursued another coaching job since. He stated that his knees couldn't take all the standing and walking around that practices required of him. Of course like Peterson now, he retired a very wealthy man and probably doesn't mind missing the 80-100 hour work weeks.
