I wouldn’t say so. Just am getting tired of so much negativity in here. But it’s to be expected when people are so passionate about the team. Just was reading the thread last night and there is just blatant name calling and hatred being tossed at the team and it amazes me. Like what are we expecting from them realistically is all. I’m a pretty busy dude that happened to have a morning off and was wanting to get some opinions on why people react the way they do. Unfortunate you seem to think that was my plan and that’s all you got out of the original question.

See, here's the problem. The people who react in the manner you describe to the team playing poorly are also most likely to take offense to this thread and respond to it defensively. This thread, by its very nature, had a very low likelihood of achieving its stated goal.

I’ll be very disappointed if we lose tomorrow night. But I’d understand if a team that was expecting Mario Hezonja, Tolliver, Nas, Baze and Ant to have major positive contributions in order for them TO win didnt. That’s the point, it’s not Dame and CJ, its what’s left over. I just can’t expect much from them.

Why would they take offense? That’s unfortunate we can’t have a civil discussion on here about realistic expectations and how they affect how we react to wins and losses. Curious why they would be offended by a simple question?

This is our wisest group. They don't spend countless hours on the internet, arguing about who has a bigger penis. :bgrin:

When things look negative people get negative. No surprise there. I have mostly been joking with my responses, and took a little jab at you at you. You are talking about people having proper expectations, but when you started this thread, what were your expectations? You may not have planned it, but again, c'mon man.

    Basically this ^

Perhaps the fact that I can understand why people would take offense also speaks to why I wouldn't start the thread in the first place. :dunno:

You’re telling me I can’t ask why people think we will win on the road against Denver against this week?

I know you and Bones played hs college sports as I did too, I remember and maybe you guys do also, being on several different teams that players and coaches thought they could compete and possibly win the league championship. I was one to not want to quench their optimism and motivation, as team success during past years or current, was the synergy behind the ultra optimism. But we all knew that it also would take some luck, and favorable tourney brackets along with solid play to contend to win, it all, as only one team would.
Im sure Dame sincerely felt we could contend and I wouldn't expect him to feel any other way, but we all know how smart and reasonable Dame is, so I would bet he also would say in the same context, the planets must line up for it to happen. I thought we would be winning around 53 games and seeded 6-3, I also knew it was team transition aplenty and none of us would know how things would unfold.

Because you're basically--by asking the question--telling them that their emotional response is incorrect. You are essentially discounting another person's emotions, which rarely if ever ends well.

It's the same reason that telling one's wife to "calm down" is almost always a bad idea.

Never said anyone would be offended. I'm certainly not. All I'm saying is that if your expectation was to have a constructive discussion with the OP basically calling posters out, you also may want to adjust your expectations like you are implying that everyone should.

No, that's not at all what I'm talking about, and I think you know that.

Sorry bro, calling you out on this one. I did no such thing. I’m “basically telling them they are incorrect”
I did not. I asked a simple question.
