This reminds me of my favorite fishing spot, the Breitenbush river. The fishing was actually lousy but: A magnificent river in a magnificent campground in a magnificent forest, amid magnificent mountains with a magnificent hot spring where you could go at night to sit on it's edge with your legs below the knees resting in mud at the bottom of the hot spring while you stared up at the stars on a clear night. In the early morning you could start the campfire, percolate some coffee, fry some bacon and cook some fresh rainbow trout for breakfast. Lunch time meant roasting a hot dog. Dinner meant something paired with a baked potato roasted in the hot coals of the fire. The Breitenbush river feeds the Detroit reservoir which feeds the Santiam river as it heads to Salem. Now that's living.
