Spoiler: Spoilers I think if Abrams got all three movies, this trilogy would probably have been thought of as a good little story. I really believe he would’ve never ass pulled Grand Daddy Palpatine, I think Snoke was meant to be the true big bad, I think he was supposed to be the thing Palpatine felt in the outer realm (in the books). Luke’s character likely would’ve been more helpful, and would train and aid Rey (causing a natural time skip between 7 and 8). Also, I truly believe Rey was meant to be turned at the end of 8 by Snoke, Kylo gets cast aside. Setting up for him to return to Ben in 9 (like he really did but in a better way) with Luke’s help. Final fight, Luke sacrifices himsef in order to save Ben and Rey (lets say Snoke was about to blast Ben with lighting but Rey and Ben were so close fighting they both would’ve been killed), Rey sees her master doing all he can for her, turns again, Rey ans Ben team up, kill Snoke, fuck, nut, have kids, roll credits.
Haven't seen it yet, and not sure I will until it's on DVD....or TNT. I've paid attention to quite a few spoilers, rumors leading up to the release. Sounded like a dumpster fire. There are apparently three versions of the film, more specifically, three versions of the last 40 minutes that they test screened and I think they ended up going with the middle scored version. They actually brought in George Lucas to write and direct one of those versions. His version scored the best and, of course, they discarded it. At least, they didn't go with the lowest score version where they blew up the Millennium Falcon and around 5 principal characters it was carrying. Good lawd, they're sadistic. From what I'm hearing, it's not only polarizing with the mass audience, but polarizing with the individual viewer where some are calling both the best and worst Star Wars they've seen. I can only imagine the brighter spots focus on nostalgia and the low points shit on legacy.
I actually saw it today, and it's good. It's biggest issues, to me, aren't plot but special effects. I think a lot of the people who "hate it" are actually people who are just repeating what they heard other people say about it, without themselves actually seeing it.
Not me Spoiler: Spoiler The entire Palpatine storyline was weak both in regards to his return and to how Rey is related to him. No explanation of her lineage which would be easy to do. Instead they wanted to go with a fast paced storyline with more “action” and less dialogue. Tell us more about Luke’s suspicion that Palpatine was alive and how he searched for him. They hinted at it but never expressly said that Luke was searching for the Sith Planet for Palpatine. That is just one of my gripes.
Does it look good and have any cool new characters? I'll rent it for two bucks in six months or so. Just watched Abominable from DreamWorks. We really hit the bottom of the rental list and I hadn't even heard much about it. Loved it.
Spoiler They fucked up not having JJ do all three. If they were going to make Rey be Palps grandaughter, they should have just said he created her with the midichlorians/force like Anakin. Instead, he apparently had a son, and thus an unknown wife (I feel bad for her that she had to sleep with him...eww...well that was probably back when was chancelor before the evil fucked him up) Should have had Palps return at the end of the second movie....like you said when rey is on achto with Luke training have him mention he suspected Palps was alive and that he had been looking for him before he became a hermit. At the end...maybe a post credits scene cut back to Snokes body and zoom in on his ring until you appear to go into it, then appear in Palps throne room out the other side to imply the puppetry of Snoke(maybe pass by the other snoke clones in the tanks) and end on Palps on his throne...evil cackle...cut to black. Introducing him back in the last film then killing him is to quick of a turn around. He should have died a better way too...it was too easy...to quick for such a powerful being. I am not sure I like the if you kill a sith you get his/her power plus all the sith before. What about other living sith? Do they have all the power of every past sith? It should just be the power of the sith you have killed plus the power of the ones they killed if anything. Ben Solo didn't need to die. Rey is Palps grandaughter. Kylo/Ben is his great Grandson. Palps created Anakin (his father), Luke and Leia are his Grandchildren. Ben/Kylo is his great grandson. Then Rey and Ben/Kylo are cousins. So first they have a brother and sister make out and now cousins? Weird. We don't get to see what Finn was trying to tell rey the whole movie.
I agreed with you after the 2nd film. I disagree though after just watching the new one. Spoiler Snoke was created by Palpatine as a puppet. His previous weakness is now understood. It was just more Palpatine pulling the strings and using the puppet Snoke to manipulate Ren and Rey.
It was good, not great, but definitely not awful. It was a lot of fun. They tried to pack too much into it. This review covers it well IMO: https://www.news.com.au/entertainme...r/news-story/500f22c4f9fecdd29ce189de314aa08d
I’m embarrassed to admit this, but i once had memorized the entire script from episode 4. This was in the 90s so there was less hype but i still feel so nerdy. That was how obsessed i was with star wars And yet I still had no comprehension of the millennium falcon kessel run conundrum!
Hypothetically speaking would I admit this or wanting to have a 3 way with Roseanne and Dan Conner in say 1993? Hmmmmm, I would go with your Star Wars admission by a tiny margin.
I’m sitting in the theater watching this as I type because my kids begged me to go. I can’t stand these movies. So f’ing boring.
