Absolutely hate that trade for Portland.

 

Teams are asking for an asset attached to Love due to his contract

Do you think they're ready to give up on Sexton already?

Fair point, but it seems quick to dump Sexton, maybe it's not.

 

Teams are asking, Cleveland isn't going to though.

 

I think I would rather give up a first round pick in place of one of Little or Simons. Probably rather keep Little. Is Covington worth giving up Zach?

 

What do you guys think of Kuzma?

He’s not really fitting in with what the Lakers are doing. I think he’s really talented.

 

Kyle Kuzma is one of the most overrated players in the NBA (IMO).

 

He’s overrated because he’s in LA, I think he needs a change of scenery.

 

This could be the best Whiteside move out their for Portland:

DAL Gets: Hassan Whiteside
POR Gets: Dwight Powell, Courtney Lee, 2020 GSW 2nd (via DAL), 2020 UTA 2nd (via DAL)

That GSW 2nd is going to be between 31-34. Powell is a very good backup C who has 4 years on his deal for $10M a year, and Lee is an expiring contract. Portland could try to work out a 3-team trade by essentially redirecting Lee along with Bazemore, and that 2nd round pick could be useful as an asset. This could be useful for any number of big targets, but here's some examples:

DAL Gets: Hassan Whiteside, Anthony Tolliver, Mario Hezonja
POR Gets: Dwight Powell, Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Tony Snell,
DET Gets: Kent Bazemore, Courtney Lee, Gary Trent Jr, 2020 POR 1st, 2020 GSW and UTA 2nds (via DAL), $11.4M TPE (Snell), $7.3M TPE (Rose)

Lillard / Rose
McCollum / Rose
Melo / Snell
Girffin / Collins* / Skal / Melo
Nurkic* / Powell / Skal

Or Portland could do the following trade and possibly keep the 2nds from Dallas:

DAL Gets: Hassan Whiteside, Mario Hezonja, Anthony Tolliver
POR Gets: Otto Porter Jr, Dwight Powell, 2020 GSW 2nd, 2020 UTA 2nd
CHI Gets: Courtnee Lee, $14.5M TPE

I think that one is my favorite. Chicago might want to move off of Otto Porter's contract for nothing, and getting back a traded player exception as big as that could be enticing enough to do that trade. If not, Portland has three 2020 2nds (Golden State's, Utah's, and their own) to entice Chicago. They'd get a Whiteside replacement who would be great off the bench in Powell, their starting SF, some early 2nds, and keep Bazemore in the process (or they could turn around and use Baze in another trade along with some of their 2020 2nd round picks).

I wonder if a package of Baze&Trent+1st could interest the T-Wolves for RoCo (obviously the salaries don’t match so filler would be needed).

 

Follow up trade to this could be Bazemore and Utah's 2nd for Rose and Snell.

They'd essentially have to trade us Dieng back, which we'd have to include Tolliver or Hezonja to take on.

In that case though, I don't think I'd want to give up a 1st. Baze+Trent+Hezonja+2nd (or two) for RoCo+Dieng

 

I think if we don’t add a first, they would want Nas in Trent’s place.

 

Then that'd be a hard no from me.

 

I like him but I don’t think there’s a match trade wise.

 

Maybe Skal+1st

 

Why would they do that? They're only trading him to get better.
