I expected that kind of move from Kravtsov. Not Andersson. This reminds me a lot of Korpikoski who never could put points up and thought he was better than he was. I thought Andersson had much more offensive potential. To be fair, What Quinn did to him was horrible. Playing players over him from day one of the season like Howden who he wiped the floor with in the pre-season. However, at his age he had time to overcome that. I guess he never did. This sounds like a deep hatred for the coach. If you don't think Quinn is going to get the boot soon, maybe you move on. Seems like that was his thought process. Let's also be honest. Quinn made it pretty clear he didn't like him. So, I guess if you think the coach hates you and you are going to rot in the minors, you go for this type of bold move. I think Lias is not all to blame here. Quinn treated him like shit. Either way, these things happen. We got Fox because he didn't to play in Carolina. Nobody is trashing him here.

This has nothing to do with Quinn, and everything to do with Andersson. Oh no he played on the 3rd and 4th line in some games early in the season, big deal. He has done shit both in his time up here and in the minors. That is ridiculous. How did Chytil handle it. For ONCE can someone man up and stop blaming others. Andersson has done shit whether it's the minors or in the NHL, and I refuse to blame Quinn at all.

Grow some balls and man up Andersson. That's it...period. And if he does that I think he can still be a solid player, but this is on him not Quinn or anyone else.

Quinn was a cocksucker. Andersson outplayed Howden badly in the pre-season and he gave Howden more icetime from day one. That's a piece of shit coach who sends a bad message to a young player that he will reward shitty play over good play. That's poor coaching. If you can't grasp that, then you don't get it. I don't agree with Andersson's request but Quinn is a fucking loser.

Whatever you think of Quinn has nothing to do with how Andersson has performed...that's what is being discussed here. How has it worked for other kids? You giving Quinn credit for Fox, and Chytil, and Lindgren, and the other kids performing well? How did Andersson do in the AHL? Again, Andersson playing like crap and not manning up has NOTHING to do with Quinn. Whether you like Quinn or not is a different discussion than Andersson's issues.

Simple coaching 101. You don't punish any player for playing better than another by giving the player who plays worse more icetime. That's just moronic. Like I said. Don't sit there and suck Fox off who did the same fucking thing as Andersson. Basically tell the team who drafted him to fuck off. Fox was worse. He told the Canes he only wanted to play for the Rangers.

I don't know if they'll get more than a 4th for him so like Dump said, he may be part of a Kreider or Fast/Strome package to enhance the extra piece. Or maybe they tell him he's not going anywhere, figure it out and be ready to compete for a possible spot next year.

Translation - kids do well it is no credit Quinn. Andersson does shit in the NHL AND the AHL, and it is on Quinn on some level. Okay, that makes perfect sense. Or maybe what makes more sense is you are an Andersson lover, and cannot admit maybe you were wrong on him (although the kid is so young still and is far from a finished product so who knows where his career ends up), so you have to find someone to blame - hello Quinn. It is quite funny.

Bottom line is many kids are doing well under Quinn. Andersson has sucked under Quinn and in the AHL, and now shows no balls and asks for a trade. That is on Andersson, not on Quinn.

And who the hell is sucking off Fox. He has played well here under Quinn. That's fact. I don't like what he did in Carolina, just like I don't like what Andersson did here. But it was different in that Fox didn't want to play in Carolina. Andersson was okay playing here, and wanted to play here until he sucked here, and in Hartford as well. That's what happened.

Overall if you are going to knock Quinn for Andersson, give him some credit for Fox and Chytil amongst other kids.

How about prove it to the coach that you are a better player..go to the minors and kick ass..not become a minus player.

Kid is in his 2nd year he hasnt earned shit.

If you watched Lias play over the past 2 years it was apparent he would not be a fit in the top 6. He simply never showed the skating nor the offensive skill and creativity to play a significant offensive role in today's NHL. You saw it from the jump in Chytil. You see it in Kakko. Lias was not on that level. Not sure know how anyone could argue that. I had hoped he could develop into a pain-in-the-ass third line center that could chip in 15 goals a season while playing tough minutes in our own zone and providing a bit of an edge to the lineup. Whether that was worth a 7th overall pick is a different argument, but that was what I was at least hoping out of him. The tragedy in all this is we could use a guy like that right now.

Regarding his usage, sure I would have liked to see him get a shot in Howden's minutes. But the important distinction here is that the change should have been made because Howden was bad, NOT because Lias earned it. Lias never forced Quinn's hand in any way, shape or form. You can argue that he still should have been given a shot, but based on what? Howden sucking? That doesnt make Lias any better. Quinn wasnt burying a guy who earned more time, which would have been wrong. He was burying someone who - right now - is not a good player. You cant really get on Quinn too much for that.

Right now, Lias is a poor skater with poor puck skills. Poor skaters with poor puck skills are fourth line players, which is where Quinn was playing him. He was sent down and put in a top 6 role for the pack where he could work on those things, but he was a disaster both on the ice and apparently off it.

As others mentioned above I would like to see him added to someone as well to increase the return, because he has no future here. Thank god for Chytil.

Agree 100% Prod. This is on Lias not on Quinn. If Quinn gave him Howden's minutes just because, that would have been okay and made everything better? And I will also add, in 2 years I have seen way more from Howden than I have from Andersson. Performance wise, and grit, fight, desire, and will wise. That says something to me.

On top of that how does Andersson think this helps him? Goes public, walks out on his team, does it AFTER the holiday roster freeze. It really comes across as selfish and childish. Everything that is wrong with how things work today. Quite pathetic I think. Good show young Lias.

I think Andersson basically gave Quinn the finger after he had a good pre-season and he gave Howden more time from the first game. Again, that's poor coaching. That is shit Renney used to do. Play favorites. That being said, I don't agree with what Andersson did and think he made a mistake. However, as I pointed out, you can't kill Andersson and love Fox because what Fox did was much worse. He not only refused to sign with Carolina but he told them he only wanted to play for the Rangers. Thus severely limited the return they could get for him. I'm assuming Lias will go to any other team. Fox would have brought back a first and a very good prospect if he would have gone to any team.

Either way, it's business. Korpikoski did the same thing. One thing I do agree on and I'm surprised about is just how little creativity Andersson has offensively. Not sure what the heck they were looking at with him. Looking back Tippett was probably the right pick there.

I think your last line said it best dump. Not sure what they were looking at drafting him 7th. A lot of us and probably you too had other players in mind before him in that spot. Whoever had the final say in drafting this kid has some explaining to do.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Clark get replaced in the next year or two. He gets tunnel vision on prospects from certain areas he happens to be at or at positions we don't need(Lindbom). Time for a new, younger mind as the head draft person. Some of the recent picks outside of Andersson look good but Kakko was a layup. In general i just think he's lost his touch.

Just read Toffoli for Anderson plus mid-level prospect? Looks like Gorton is trying to get something for Lias Anderson, which is not bad. Toffoli is very similar to Krider in numbers, basically identical. They either trade Toffolo or Krider at the TDL, or both.

Toffoli is an UFA after this year. If they do that deal, it's only to hope he plays well here and they deal him at the deadline.

I don’t think I do that deal and get nothing back. Let the kid stew for awhile not playing and maybe his agent talks some sense into him. Rangers have the leverage. If In the end they get nothing for him at this point they’re not getting anything for him anyway. I don’t reward the kid for his actions. I’m pissed at this whole situation throwing away the 7th pick in the draft. Hope with jd here we replace Clark and start drafting some tough Canadian skilled kids. We have plenty of Europeans now. We are a skilled but very very soft team.

Me, I would tell Andersson no, send him back to Sweden. Let him play there.

Unless we get good value for Andersson, and that is doubtful given his play and the stunt he pulled, I would hold onto him for sure. It is absolutely the smart play. I know we are all down on him right now, me included and very rightfully so for many reasons, but he is still young and can still become a very good player. We should not deal him just to deal him, that would be very dumb. He still has upside and his NHL story is far from being finalized, and that shouldn't be forgotten.

I get what Gorton is thinking with Toffoli. He might think, I can put him with Zibanejad or Panarin, he will score and I can deal him for a late 1st or a second a decent prospect. The Kings are a horrible offensive team. He should do better here.
