Yes you do. This thread is about coach Stotts. You do everything you can to say Stotts is a bad coach. He has never had what Kerr has had. So don't even go there anymore. The year he took over they were already on their way to becoming a Championship contender. Most everyone knew this.

    Oh wow, you know what?

A power ranking where some guy had them 5th and said they could take the "next step" is definitely proof that they were going to win it all! Good job! You are right and I am wrong. I bow down to your greatness at winning an argument that you made up in your own head.

What coach won in bad situations? Including Stotts. Its not so much tearing down Stotts IMO, but I kind of view him like I view Jackson, a good coach, he knows more about basketball then any of us, but I dont believe he’s a championship level coach, I just dont.

My larger point though, was contending that, “no one out there is better”, of course the Blazers could fire Stotts go do a search and end up with worse, but they could also fire Stotts go do a search and find someone better.

Kerr maybe sucks now, I dont know. Pops hasnt done anything special since Tim Duncan, Phil wasnt all that without Kobe, Shaq, Jordan and Pippen. Theres a good conversation to be had about how much coaching matters too if the talent isnt there.

For every team that fired a coach of the year and went on to win a ring.
You have a team that fired a coach of the year and hit the lotto for years until they got super deep and started making noise.
One of those is actually considered a WC contender rn. As they were last year.

This is some massive piles of bullshit KJ. Not once in this thread did I bash Stotts or post a narrative about Stotts level of coaching, so any inference to that is solely on you buddy.

We were talking about other situations as to not firing a coach without having a good replacement.

That is an SB Nation pre-season Power Rankings. You are trying to say that is "Some Guy". Okay. ESPN has them 4th in the Western Conference. Now understand this is also the last year with Aldridge and the Blazers were 5th....

At what point are we allowed to call a team good?

Seriously when was the last time I "bashed" Stotts on here? How do I do everything I can to say he's a bad coach?

Nobody said they weren't good. The point had always been that they weren't generally believed to have had the talent to be a contender prior to Kerr taking the helm. 4th in the conference is usually not considered contender status.

    How would you like Fivethirtyeight-
"Very few first-time NBA coaches are lucky enough to inherit a team as talented as the one Steve Kerr has in the Golden State Warriors this year. Last year, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson shared one of the most remarkable offensive seasons any starting backcourt has had in the NBA since 2000."

That is a quote right from the article.
    https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/2014-nba-preview-the-rise-of-the-warriors/

    This conversation is over yes....

I never said they weren't a good team. The Blazers have finished 3rd the last two seasons and aren't considered a contender but a link predicting GS to finish 4th is proof that everyone knew they were on the path the a championship? Okay cool!

There's no way to argue with that amount of logic.

I just posted three separate pre season power rankings. All of them have them as contenders. One of them written is almost my word exactly about Steve Kerr inheriting a team already poised to contend.
This conversation has been had over and over again. How can people not think Kerr didn't have it made?

Bro Fivethirtyeight had them #1 and called their championship right out of the gates.
