Stotts has a career record at .511 and .560 as Portland's head coach so let's start by getting that right. His playoff record is .333 and his Portland playoff record is .355.
I don't see where you could call him a career .500 regular season coach especially while at Portland.
I think his stats would be even better if he coached in a city where there was more draw for an up and coming player who wanted to make more money from advertising and get more attention and glamour.
I'm not a hot and cold kind of guy. I'm a big supporter of my team 24/7 every year and especially when they get us into the playoffs and they get us into the playoffs plenty.

Kerr was one of the worst NBA players I've ever seen. He was totally one dimensional. Every time I look at him I think 'Loser'.

    Depends on how it looks.
It doesn't just boil down to wins/losses. It's how you play and how you lose.

I watched NBA teams with little talent fighting hard on both ends, timeouts being taken at the right time, adjustments being made on time, ball is moving around and yet they lost. I won't be complaining about the coach if we had anything like that.

When coaches in general start getting fired is when coaches in general start getting hired. This means more coaches are available and simultaneously more coaches are in demand. I wouldn't bet the farm on getting a great coach in May unless you've got money to burn.

I may have missed you saying it earlier, but based on what you're saying, is it safe for me to assume you think Portland has had one of the most talented rosters in the NBA the last few seasons?

Doesn't matter. Wally Walker had a championship ring and yet he wasn't very good.

Ok but Kerr has 8, and played his role well... you dont just luck into 8 championships... Robert Horry didnt just suck his way into rings either.

What specific statement are you strongly objecting to? The statistics look accurate to me.

I'm still upset with Kerr for not bringing a championship to Portland!

I'd like to see what a different coach could do, but I think success is 95% on the players.

No. We were a 2nd tier team at best. 3rd tier before Nurkic.
We had a relative advantage with our starting backcourt and Nurkic was a band-aid for our defense in the paint and our predictable offense because he looked to find the open guy instead of just taking his turn.

If you don't have a top 5 player you're not really a contender.

    Very well said.

For those reasons, it's hard for me to be to be upset with a coach who got a 3rd tier team to the WCF last year. Now, if we end up having two straight seasons like this year had started out, I'll probably be closer to you on wanting a change on the bench (and in the front office).

McMillan needed to be fired first, and an assistant for a while to get there. Stotts needs to have the same experience. I doubt he'll change regardless.

    Seems fake.
Kobe lucked himself into his rings.
Orlando trying to underpay the most dominate big man of an era. Then being gifted one of the most skilled bigs ever and arguably the best big at the time in Pau.
    100% luck.
Without those two Kobe is a poor man's Vince Carter.

    Fight me.
