Stotts is an average coach. He is inflexible to a fault and doesn't hold his players accountable. And his preparation and inspiration leaves a lot to be desired. And let's not even go to the pace with which he makes changes.

But the players like him and respond to his mild-mannered nature. That's half the battle. Prolly has a lot to do with the culture Dame sets, but Stotts should get some credit for that as well.

I've long advocated for a change since Stotts doesn't have the resume of a Pop or Spo or Carlisle to warrant this kind of longevity. And a change of voice is not necessarily a bad thing. Dame, especially I felt could have had a different coach to make him more versatile and knowledgeable but what to do. That Terry contract extension is killer.

Injuries are part of the game and you can only beat the team the opponent puts on the floor. Blazers have had plenty of playoff series where they have had injuries as well. It's the reality of the game so stop putting the Blazers down for the same thing other teams have benefited from as well.

One thing I have NEVER seen Kerr do is make an actual game plan that will leave Dame WIDE FREAKING OPEN time after time after time. Stotts actually did that on Curry. One of the most mind blowing things ever and no one including the media, players or fans understood why you would ever even consider something like that.

20-36. A .357 winning percentage. A eye-gauging 3-24 in series where they have been closed out. That is winning game a miniscule 11% of the time. Honestly, is there any coach in history with 20+ games in closeout series to have that inept of a record? Knew it was bad.....didn't realize it was THAT bad.

You do realize that every team that loses in a closeout series will have a losing record don't you?

I honestly do not get this narrative at all. Dude is 29 and putting up comparable numbers (actually better than last year). His rebounds are a little down? Percentages are a little down? Overall minutes are down though. His role is much different. He is being asked to do different things. Obviously without Curry and Klay his assists have dropped a little (About 1.4 a game).
It's like people are saying he is washed up? Some people like to use Per 36 and then he looks like he is doing better. I don't like using stats at all. I have watched the guy 6 games this year. Nothing about what i have seen has him dropping off.

Respect your opinion, but saying "identify momentum" or "weird subs" along with players making the same mistakes over and over (nearly all player do this) are things nearly every fan base says about their coach.

The momentum argument is a great example of this. People use the term momentum to explain why series of events have happened after the fact. I would challenge you or anyone who is a strong believer of momentum to post immediately after you thing a play that will trigger momentum has occured, then see/track the results of the next handful of possessions. Over a large sample, you might be surprised at the outcome.

Same goes with "weird subs". Does that mean you don't understand his subs? Is there any data that backs up Portland does worse after he subs vs other teams when they sub? If I said Stotts made "amazing subs" (which I don't think either), I'm guessing me telling you to "dig deeper" would not be enough to convince you.

Using data to back up your points or creating criteria before things happen would actually be digging deeper. Just because I don't buy into a story based narrative doesn't mean I'm not digging deeper.

Green is the type of player that is more effective when he is playing with quality players. Not many players can carry a team that is comprised of mostly middle and end of the bench type players.

absolutely. I’m not saying they are, but if someone thinks that fine with me. I think he’s exactly what this team needs.

I'm pretty flattered that in a conversation meant to question my abilities I keep getting compared to Steve Kerr. Tells me that I'm doing very well for myself and my players. Thanks for the confidence boost everyone!

Yeah i agree. Asking someone to "Dig a little deeper" and talking about "Weird Subs" or "Momentum swings" in a game that is pretty much based on runs and adjustments is a tough way to go. A player not feeling well (Simple strain, indigestion) or dealing with personal issues (Girlfriend or wife and kids) could have dramatic effect on any game.
