definitely not worth 8 million, big liability on offense, so he would be getting paid 8 million to flop. He brings "energy", big freaking whoopdy do, everyone on that court should be able to bring energy and hold their own on the court. He will not average 10 points anywhere he goes unless he shoots over 10 shots a game. The Cavs better not match 8 million, he will just be an add on to the overpaid Cavaliers (Hughes, Marshall, Snow, Wesley, Pollard, Z kinda). We need to save that money for someone worth it.
Ugh...Don't believe anything you hear on WKNR, especially Tony Rizzo, he's a clueless moron. Now, if this were Mike Trivisonno, then you could take what he said to heart, because he has his ear in every single GM office in Cleveland.

Several players get something around 8-10ppg from it, just from dunks and easy layups. I dont know how many more times I have to say this, hes getting 6ppg in 23minutes on a slow team....why cant he get 2-4 more points a game on a up-tempo team(fulltime, not just a couple plays) with getting atleast 10 more minutes of playing time...
Let me see if im understanding you. Sideshow Bob gets 6 PPG in 23 min. if you gave him ten more min. you think he can make 4 more points? Thats 2 baskets in 10 min.Really how hard is it to make 2 baskets in 10 min?

QUOTE (Justice @ Jul 4 2007, 06:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Harder than making 3 baskets in 23 minutes.
:g: :brickwall: Yeah but he wont have Lebron to hog the ball.
Theirs a reason he doesn't get the ball in Cleveland, because if he did it would turn out like his layup against San Antonio. Ask Eric Snow how hard it is to score 2 baskets in 10 minutes.
But he will be playing in a fast-tempo style of play, more shots going around. He will be playing around Pau Gasol, who Ive seen give passes to players like Wright and Tsakalidias who have had the easiest shots in the world. Anderson Varejao can average 8-10ppg in Memphis given the minutes....
^You just don't get it. Its not about any fast pace offense. HE HAS NO OFFENSIVE GAME WHATSOEVER! NONE! ZIP! NUTTIN'! I've said it a million times already. I've watched this guy ever game of the season and the playoffs, I've watch him in this "fast pace offense" you claim he'd do good in. If he didn't do well in Cleveland in the fast pace with LeBron, Hughes, and others, how in the world will he do better in Memphis? The ONLY way he scores is if he shoots it more than 10 times a game.
Whatever dude, I really hope he signs with us just to prove you wrong, I guess you dont understand the concept of garbage points...we're just gonna have to wait. But you are telling me that given 10-15 more minutes a game, playing with a couple playmakers and in a up-tempo style he still wouldnt get one more basket a game then he does playing 23minutes, 1 playmaker(or 2 if you count Hughes) on a slow paced team...you obviously dont know the concept that the more miinutes and style you play gives you easier and more opportunities to score.
I find it funny you're calling Conley a playmaker when he hasn't even played a single second on a NBA Court. You don't know if hes gonna be that good. I hope he is, because I am a big fan of him, but you dunno yet. I wouldn't call him a playmaker just yet.
Okay, now that ive proven you wrong, you want to move to Conley. Playing with Mike Miller, Gasol and Lowry(who proved last season he can get guys open), he will get some open easy shots around the basket.
You didn't "prove me wrong". You're going on and on about Anderson getting garbage points. Memphis isn't going to be anywhere near the top in the West, so the only garbage minutes he'll be able to get is if they are getting blown out. He still wont get lots of shots, it's just stupid.. Hes not an offensive player, and I'll laugh my ass off sooo damn bad if Memphis tries to use him that way. I hope he does sign with Memphis, this way I can laugh so badly when he averages 4-6 points a game next year. Also, I'd take LeBron James opening things up over Mike Miller, and Gasol.. Who might not even be there next year.

Yes, Varjeo could be a liability on offense, but if we brought him to Memphis, it would be because of his defensive skills and hustle. We have an offensive option downlow already in Gasol, and I don't think Varajeo would be a part of our immediete offensive gameplan. All of his touches would most likely come from fastbreaks and double teams on Gasol along with the "garbage" points. But, his role would be a defensive/hustle role.
Thats what he gets now.... When you say defensive skills, what do you mean? Hes our best defender, correct, but hes defense isn't anywhere near being good or anything. Its just average. Only reason Memphis would want him would be because they need help rebounding and more energy off the bench. Andy fits the Cavaliers perfectly because they are a championship type team and he fills the role thats needed. Memphis, isn't near there yet but Andy would be an alright piece to get started? Dunno. I think they are moving away from him to get Chicago's Nocioni.
Nocioni is surely a backup pickup, he solves absolutley none of our needs right now. And the only reason the Cavs went to the Finals is because they're in the East. Memphis has to play against teams like Utah, San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix(who each IMO would dominate the East if they were in the Eastern Conference). Im not saying we're as good as the Cavs, but we arent as far behind as you think. The Cavs would be just a mediocre team in the West....
We'd be better than you think, too. Our offense is a problem, and we need to find a point guard to run the offense, but our defense would be able to hold up good enough to make us a pretty good team in the West. We wouldn't make the finals or not even the Western Finals[Maybe] with this team and the way they run the offense. But Memphis was down right horrible last year, how else would they get a top pick in the draft? No offense, but they have some ways to go. Anderson shouldn't be a player they go after, and after hearing some Memphis fans on their official site, I think they'd agree.
All the Griz fans ive talked to would love to have Varejao...And im not going to go into specifics, but anybody who knows the Grizzlies full story will tell you last season was a fluke, we're most likely going to be in contention for the playoffs next season...thats if we dont trade Gasol. And you might look at our record and generalize just like 95% of the people out there, but people who have watched the Grizzlies the entire season will tell you that 3/4 of our seasons games we so close but we could never close out.And as a matter of fact, Anderson Varejao is exactly what the Grizzlies need. We have scorers, we have guys who we can go to late in the game, what we dont have is the hustle, the defense, the intensity and the energy. We lost all of that when we traded Battier, but Varejao will bring it all back. Hes almost perfect for the Grizzlies.
Well, my comment about them being far out wasn't meant they were far out from making it to the playoffs. Didn't they make it, 2 years ago? Weren't they the ones that didn't sell out the stands or whatever? Aw well, I can't remember what I did yesterday, let alone 2 years ago. Anyway, I've talked to some Memphis fans and they've told me that they like Andy but they don't wanna overpay for him. They think Ferry wont mess around and will just up the offer and Memphis might do the same thing. I'll tell you something, I don't care if you REALLY need the guy or not. Hes not worth 8-9 million. Sorry, you guys can have him if that is what he wants.
We're not going to pay him 9million a year. But you know what? Thats how free agency goes, thats one of the reasons salaries get higher and higher. Id rather overpay him than not have him and sign somebody who doesn't help us much at all...thats how it goes, always been and it will never change. Whoever we sign, we're probably going to overpay them, that goes for other teams as well...its just the way free agency works.
