Oh well. I know Glyniadakis played for Seattle last year and he actually started a couple games. Should be interesting to see that big body in there. Here's a little blurb on the free agents brought in to fill out the roster. Of course we already know about Rondo, Green, Powe, Ray, Davis and Pruitt but what about the other guys?Lance Allred (#56) a 6'11" Center who played with Utah and Weber State. Allred spent his first season on the court with the Utes in 2000-01 after taking year off from basketball as a gray shirt ... elected not to go on an LDS Church mission and enrolled at the U. as a part-time student during the 1999-2000 academic year. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds. Allred has a 75% hearing loss and was allegedly under constant verbal abuse from Utah coach Rick Majerus, and he transferred after his sophomore year to Weber State where he rediscovered his love for the game under a coach that appreciated his abilities. He would flourish, becoming one of the most dominant players in the Big Sky Conference and earning First Team All-Conference last year. He averaged 17.7 points and 12.0 rebounds as a senior, among the national leaders. He is an athletic big man who runs the floor well, has good hands and hits the boards. Lance Allred never claimed to be the most talented player on the court, but he does claim to be the hardest worker. "Talent can only take you so far, but no one works harder than me," Allred said.Pat Carroll (#46) Carroll is 6'5" is tall and weighs 190 lbs. He played for St. Joseph's and was a teammate of Delonte West. His brother, Matt, who starred at Notre Dame, now plays for the Charlotte Bobcats. Along with senior Jameer Nelson, junior guard Delonte West and sophomore center Dwayne Jones, Pat Carroll was an integral part of the undefeated regular season of 2004. Like his brother, Carroll went undrafted out of college. He played for the Houston Rockets Summer League team in 2006. In August of 2006, Carroll signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks but was waived October 15 before the 2006-07 season started. He went to Europe after going unsigned by an NBA team. After injuring his shoulder in a game in Italy, Carroll returned to the U.S. to undergo surgery and rehabilitate. He is a 3 point specialist and finished his college career as one of Saint Joseph's greatest perimeter shooters. He was SJU's all-time leader in 3-point field goals (294), 3-point percentage (44.5) and 3-point attempts (661).Torin Francis, (#59) A 6-11 forward out of Notre Dame. Francis eclared for the 2005 Draft but withdrew his name to return to school on June 21 after participating in Chicago pre-draft camp in early June. He is a dominating frontline player who led Notre Dame in rebounding in each of his four seasons. He combines both finesse and power in his game. He runs the floor extremely well and is a smart decision player who is unselfish and displays a strong work ethic. He missed the final 12 games of his sophomore season after having back surgery to repair a herniated disc. He returned to start all 29 games his junior season and averaged 9.3 points and 7.8 rebounds. He averaged 11.5 points and 8.6 rebounds over his 4 years at Notre Dame. he went undrafted in 2006 and it isn't clear what he has been doing for the past year but is poised to try to make it into the NBA by impressing in this year's summer league. Andreas Glyniadakis (#58) is a 7' 1" player from Greece. He did not play college basketball and was selected by Detroit Pistons in 2nd round (#58 pick overall) of 2003 NBA Draft. Before going to play in the United States, he played for Kydon of Hania, Panathinaikos, Peristeri and AEK Athens. He played with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2006 preseason but was cut before the regular season began. He also played with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBDL. Glyniadakis was signed by the Seattle SuperSonics on November 5, 2006 and was waived on January 4, 2007. In May of 2007 he signed with Italian League Team Virtus Bologna. He averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds in the D-League playoffs for the Thunderbirds. He averaged 1.3 points and .6 rebounds in 13 games for Seattle before being waived in January.Sergio Sanchez (#36) a 6-3 guard from Spain. He plays point guard for Club Baloncesto Estudiantes of the Spanish League based in Madrid, Spain. Other than this, I couldn't find out much about him. Brandon Wallace (#49) a 6-9 forward out of South Carolina. In his 4 years at Carolina he set a school record for career games played (135 in career), for career block shots (249) and he finished No. 9 in SEC all-time play. He was 5th in career bpg (1.84 bpg)and 6th in career rebounds (775). He averaged 36.5 mpg, 9.9 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.3 spg, 2.9 bpg his senior year. Wallace runs the floor extremely well and can finish at the basket. His length, terrific athleticism and excellent activity level help him out tremendously in this area. He has a knack for getting to the offensive glass. Wallace needs a strength and conditioning regiment that can put about 20 to 25 pounds of muscle onto his long and lanky frame, but it would be time well-spent on his part. He moves very well without the ball and knows how to get into rebounding position while other players are standing still and watching the ball while it?s in the air. Offensively, Wallace shows a very promising stroke from 3-point range.I can definitely see Glyniadakis or Francis making the roster, if anybody out of these players.
Francis is a BEAST, wow. I also know that Brandon Wallace was brought in for more than one workout in Waltham, so Ainge apparently likes him. I can't wait to see these guys play, I hope one of these big bodies impress so we can basically replace Kandi-Man with a younger practice dummy. Also, I heard that Ainge left a spot open on the roster for Sebastian. He still may play.
