Do we have to include cup in this game and beer deal? Hey, I wasn't trying to defend cup even though I frequently do.

Couldn't keep the team together because Turner & Leonard were grossly overpaid and CJ somewhat overpaid, no? If we still had Aminu, Hark, Leonard, and for all we knew Zach, we could have gotten by with a lesser center than HW who will be overkill when Nurk returns.

Not overkill. Each one needs to play limited minutes. And then you have to figure that you need to have someone who can fill in when there's an injury at the five.

You are ASSUMING that the Blazers were part of PA's "vision". I don't think that's a safe assumption. As much as PA loved the Blazers, he also placed it in the appropriate context....Basketball is entertainment. There are many things that are infinitely more important, that I would assume is the basis of Jody's statement.

There was nothing wrong with what I said and no, I don't need your advice. I let you pretty much know that yesterday and here you are back at it again. You are the one trying to instigate something, not me as TBF and I have no issues between us but yet you felt you needed to butt in again. You are reading way to much into things again.

Thus far it appears you the basis of your arguments are based on your unsubstantiated speculation than any concrete absolutes.

Granted, unless someone has direct access to Jody and can explicitly talk to her about the plans moving forward - everyone's opinion is based on speculation.

The REASON that it was impossible to keep the team together, was largely because of the position that NO put HIMSELF into based on prior decisions.

and thus the reason I would have never made such a statement to begin with. It wasn't my speculation that started this discussion. Unless I had some specific knowledge I would never speculate that Jody Allen didn't care or follow how the Blazers are doing.

But you were insinuating that Jody cared about the Blazers. That's no different than saying she doesn't care.

Jody stated last year after PA passing that she's never been much of a basketball fan. Admittedly, there is a big difference between being a fan & being an owner. She doesn't HAVE to like basketball to be intimately involved with the team.

The Blazers are not particularly profitable, so why else would someone maintain ownership? That's right, they have a personal interest in how the team is doing.
    Make logic your friend.

Now, let's all have some popcorn and see what I've stirred up.

I was merely offering counterpoints and that she stated she wanted to make sure her brothers visions continued and that PA was very passionate about the Blazers. It would be one thing if I started the dialogue by saying that Jody Allen cares very much about the Blazers and is very in tune with the team, but I didn't. It was started by someone else saying the complete opposite.

I could make a statement that Lillard wants out of Portland, but I have nothing to substantiate that and I imagine it would get tons of hits of posters arguing that point. I even told TBF that we should just agree to disagree.

Yes, I understand and get that he was hamstrung by his own contracts. However, you guys are seemingly discrediting him for not being able to keep a team together that he was responsible for putting together despite his own limitations if that makes sense?

Besides we haven't even seen what's going to happen yet with this particular roster. Hood and Kanter weren't even on the team at this point last season. Nurk hadn't gotten injured yet. I believe Whiteside was brought in as a stop gap until Nurk was close to being ready and will still be used as a trade piece moving forward, same with Bazemore. Hezonja and Tolliver have been crap but Olshey turned two useless players in Stauskas and Baldwin into Hood last year.

I'm extremely frustrated with the injuries and don't think that they are an excuse for losing to bad teams when we still have Dame and CJ but that also doesn't mean that I think they should be a top-4 team in the West with those injuries either.

    Blazers certainly shouldn't be 14-21

Yes, I agree. They should be a lot closer to OKC's record than 14-21.

I don't know. I had really high hopes coming into this season, but at this point watching them play 14-21 seems kind of decent. Could easily be worse. I think Dame is the only high caliber player they have. Most teams at least have 2-3 guys who are legit starters. Blazers have one in my opinion. I even think Whiteside has played fairly well, but the more I watch the more I totally understand why my Floridian friend was so glad to get rid of him.
