Or you keep Wright & look for CJ trades that make sense

Do you think paying a guy playing less than 20 minutes a night $9M is good business?

It's fine I guess. They have a big roster and not everyone can get good minutes. 20 isn't that little and he's important to them.

I like the idea of Dallas as a trade partner, but the theoretical issue I see is the blazers will also need to find a center to replace Whiteside, and it’ll be pretty difficult to find one while also staying under the tax. And I only like Dallas as a trade partner if they’re trying to dip the tax, because they can do better than Wright if they’re not.

He’s so important he hasn’t played more than 15 minutes the last three games. They need a big a lot more than they need Wright.

Exactly, you have to give something up for a big. It sounds like they value Hardaway and Curry over Wright.

That's why they could get creative with secondary moves. Use the DPE to get Willie Hernangomez (or whatever center is available for cheap) or attach picks with Hezonja and problem solved. If they're still over trade Lee for someone making around $10 million or for someone like Felicio who still has another year left and Chicago might attach future 2nd(s) to dump or another player like Valentine or maybe they'd agree to a 1st round pick swap. Then the Blazers could make a playoff push while still getting a lottery pick.

There are lots of options here.

I don't like Wright playing off the ball so I wouldn't want to move forward with him as the SG. Either he runs the bench unit or we trade him somewhere to be a Terry Rozier type.

Seems...optimistic. And that center would have to be legitimately good considering how much Portland relies on them defensively. For example, Hernangomez wouldn’t be a fit imo. And since I don’t believe dipping the tax automatically equals throwing in the towel, I’d hope they had a better plan. We’ll see.

Btw it’s funny how windshit said the mavs were looking for a big that could give em 15 points and then a day later they get connected to....Joakim Noah. It’s almost like these media dudes don’t know what they’re talking about.

But I did find this from a mavs reporter

Who they target just depends on how they view Porzingis imo. If they want him as their primary rim protector, then they’ll target more of a PF, but if they don’t, then a guy like Whiteside makes sense. Personally I think they should target an actual center instead of trying to replicate Powell. They already had rim protection/rebounding issues before his injury and Porzingis isn’t exactly mr durable either.

Can't ever admit when you are wrong can you. Attack, attack deny, deny. You are simply the victim all the time. Different day, same story.

Whiteside for Thad Young and Satoransky.

Gets us really close to jumping out of the tax outright this summer while giving us a decent starting forward in Young and a really tall backup PG I like in Satoransky. Sato is a bit overpaid but I liked his game when he was in WAS. This saves CHI a ton of long term $.

I might consider Winslow for Ariza. Outside of that, I'm not sure there's a deal to be made with Miami.

That would be sick. I love Winslow's new game that he showed last year as a primary ball handler, but he seems super injury prone.

A risk worth taking I think.

Well, Lee and Wright to Minnesota for Dieng works too. The Blazers would possibly create a $12 million trade exception and still pick up that 2nd via GS. Although maybe Dallas would like Dieng instead of Whiteside, in which case we'd be out of luck. The Blazers would be over $6 million under the tax so they could then revisit your prior suggestion of adding Markieff or Saric using our 2nd round pick.

So basically we'd trade Whiteside and Swanigan/Hezonja for Dieng and Morris/Saric plus be under the tax by a couple million.

Winslow sucks. Even his two "good" years his highest ever TS% was 51%. I'd rather have Aminu, Harkless, or Turner, lol.

You love Winslow but hate Evan Turner?
