Daily Herald -Could Bulls forward Andres Nocioni be on his way to Memphis in a trade for Pau Gasol?A league source suggested any talks between the Bulls and Grizzlies are in the preliminary stages. But Memphis general manager Chris Wallace flew to Argentina in recent days to meet with Nocioni, sources confirmed. One theory is the Bulls would be willing to send Nocioni, first-round draft pick Joakim Noah, backup point guard Chris Duhon and filler to the Grizzlies in exchange for the 7-foot Gasol, who averaged 20.8 points and 9.8 rebounds last season.Nocioni is a restricted free agent, which means the Bulls can match any offer the third-year forward receives. Bulls general manager John Paxson stated emphatically Monday that hell match any offer sheet for Nocioni. But its possible Paxsons message was another way of saying any team that wants Nocioni will have to negotiate a trade. The Bulls have great appreciation for Nocionis talent and toughness, but his role on the team seems to be limited to either playing power forward at 6-feet-7 or backing up small forward Luol Deng.
I'm not a big fan of this trade. Gasol is our main offensive threat, so when losing him, someone would have to step up big time. Noah is the type of player we need in Memphis with his great hustle and defense, and Nocioni with his passion and his talents too. This deal could work, but right now, the Grizzlies do not have any proven scorers behind Gasol and Miller. I'm sure Gay will turn into one soon, but for time being, we really only have 2. With this trade, we would be gaining the front-court defender to fill our hole, but also losing a front-court scorer. While there are a few options for a front-court defender via FA, they're really aren't any great options for a scorer. I think if Gasol decides he wants to stay in Memphis, we really need to hold on to him, because I really do like the future of this team. I really do think the Grizzlies can make a legitimate run for the playoffs this season, depending on which FA we sign.
No way Memphis does that. Bulls would take it so fast it's not even funny. But what's Pau's situation in Memphis? Is he asking out? Does management want to move him because of financial issues? Or is this just some writers fantasy?
Gasol basicly said "bring more talent in or im leaving...because im a big pansy with no loyalty even though my favorite player is KG and he has supreme loyalty, I just dont have loyalty though cause im a pansy". So uh...yeah.
That's not a bad deal for either team. Chicago gets their inside scorer, while Memphis gets a nice package of young players. I'd try to wrangle Tyrus Thomas out of the Bulls as well, but Noah, Nocioni, and Duhon is a decent offer if Gasol is serious about leaving. Maybe throw in Hakim Warrick and see if they'll give you Thomas to make it a little more even.

The Grizz are getting younger, which is just what they need to build for the future with Lowery, Conley, Warrick, etc. etc.

And this isn't a good deal for the Grizz at all. Yes, they get Joakim Noah, who they really like. But after that, they get Duhon, who is a solid point guard, but you already have three on your roster, two of which you have just spent first rounders on, and this years was number four overall. Nocioni is solid, but nowhere near a borderline superstar. How did you come to that? Memphis can get a much better deal for Gasol, IMO.
Paxson has always said he hasnt talked to no one which is a lie. Paxson has said before he doesn't like to talk about his convo's with players or other GM'sAnd No way paxson trades both tyurs and noah. Then our only bigs are wallace and pau.
I really dont see us getting Pau. Now that memphis is looking better he really has no incentive to want to leave. It might not be next season but soon they'll become a very strong team and I just dont like Gasol as a player on the bulls. He just doesn't fit right in our system but I'd trade for him if it only involved Tyrus + Noc. Gasol could help us alot, but I think there are players who could help us much more. I'd love to see Jermaine O'neal on the bulls and it would be very ironic to see the two starters of the pistons-pacers brawl in the same frontcourt.
Ah theres no way I want oneal on this team... For what so he can play the 1st 54 games then sit out the rest of season and playoffs.... no thanks you

You can't be serious. O'Neal is a jump shooting power forward, and not a good one at that. While Pau can score in the post, can hit the jumper, and do it efficiently. Plus he has the ability to play Center down the line.
I dont like this trade at all, we are basicly getting 3 role-players, one being a PG which we dont need. A 1st rnd pick that is probably going to be in the bottom 5 of the draft all for our best player. No way in hell Wallace does this...but keep dreaming...If we were going to send Pau off the Chicago, we would probably atleast get Gordon and Thomas.

Have you even watched Gasol play? Gasol can run the floor very nice for a big. He's a player that would fit nice in an up-tempo style, which is why I want to keep him. He plays in the post and can create his own shots as well, not to mention he is a good passer. He usually leads the Grizzlies in assists.
I think chicago might have to give up ben gordon for this to go down. Memphis is going to have close to no scoring if they lose gasol, gordon would be a valuable asset on the team. he could score mid-20s definitely.
