I wonder how much he expects a year? What does the market dictate for an approximately 15-5-3 player? I would consider resigning. Melo is something else with the ball in the midrange: strong to the rim, great shooter, and outstanding at drawing fouls. After all that's what makes him a shoe-in first ballot HOF'er. You know what you are getting with him.
He’s going to be 36 next season. I’d be surprised if he got much more than the minimum. It’s not like teams didn’t know he could score. He only played ten games for Houston, wasn’t a fit, yet still scored 17+ in four of them. I don’t think money will be much of an issue. He learned the hard way happiness/fit is the most important.
If Carmelo is sincere, and I believe he is, than other than Nurk eventually coming back, thus is the best thing I've heard all year. I like Melo..a lot... He brings serious cache to a team not exactly famous for that.
Is he going to be happy coming off the bench and take the minimum? If so, let's do it! I don't think this will be the case though.
I would be happy to see him stay for a fair price. I also don't believe for one minute he intends to do so.
Based on what? Melo and his agent are very aware of what the Blazers financial situation is and that he will be 36 next year. I have no idea what he expects, but it's right there pretty much in front of him what might likely be available and yet he said he wants to stay.
Celebrities love rehab, and free agents love to go where celebrities reside. You may be onto something.
