http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives..._year_contract/ <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Guard Matt Carroll and the Charlotte Bobcats have come to terms on a six-year contract, a person close to the negotiations said Wednesday. The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because of league rules preventing contract announcements before July 11, said Carroll is expected to sign the deal when he returns from a trip to China. Carroll, signed by Charlotte out of the NBA's developmental league midway through the 2004-05 season, quickly became a key contributor. A 3-point specialist, he averaged nine points in 25 games to close that season, then 7.6 points the following year.</div> Carroll is a good shooter, but a 6 year deal? Wow.
I was just about to post this, had just read it in the Charlotte Observer. I'm on the fences for this signing. He is a good three point shooter, and can run the floor well, but past that he does nothing else well. The one thing he does do, is work well with Raymond Felton, because he has pretty good athleticism, especially in the speed and three point shooting aspect. He gives a good three point shooter off the bench, as well as a player to provide energy. However, at 6 years, they may find themselves not being as enamoured with him come farther in time. He may never become more than a good bench shooter, if so, that would really suck. Either way though, we will figure out in the future if this was a good signing or not, hopefully for them it was a good signing.
