Would not have happened that way. They would not have been in the position with the Gerald Wallace trade is what i'm thinking? Also i doubt Nate would have been fired the same way? Of course no way to say for sure.
Always nice to think about i guess.

They traded for the pick, it wasn't their own.

If anything, losing Roy caused them to get Leonard.

Drafting Lillard had nothing to do with the Blazers draft position as that pick was made with the Gerald Wallace trade to the Nets so we would be able to have had both.

We already had Roy and then traded Wallace for a top 3 protected 1st round pick. Now having a healthy Roy may have caused the team to look in a different direction but that's an unknown. The only thing we know is that with a healthy Roy we would have still been in position to draft Lillard.

That is my entire point. Wallace was traded on March 15, 2012 after the Knicks meltdown game. Roy was injured that entire season. If Roy was healthy do they fire McMillian and trade away Wallace? They were dealing with Raymond Felton. Do they even have Felton on the team is Roy is healthy?
Fun fact. The Trade deadline that year was mid March. This year is was Feb 6th.

Like I said, all we can go on is what is known and what was available. Anyone can speculate a completely different scenario, but that's all it is, speculation.

Just like your speculation of having both Lillard and Roy at the same time maybe?
I agree. It would be great to have Lillard and Roy. Sure.

But it's not speculation. It would have been there and available to us.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
By advanced stats, Lillard the past several seasons has basically been at the level that Roy was at his best. If this is where Lillard settles in long-term, they were probably pretty similar talents but obviously Lillard had the health to do it significantly longer.

Roy was easily my favorite Blazer and definitely disappointed when his knees got the best of him, but then along came Lillard that helped make the transition much easier for me and easily became my favorite Blazer. The edge Lillard has is with his leadership ability, but they are easily 2 of my favorite Blazers of all time.

not much doubt in my mind that Dame is better than the best Roy we saw. Obviously, Roy never reached his prime, but we only have what he did when 'healthy' to go by

but more than that is Dame is much more adaptable. Dame can play, and play well, with other high usage players like Aldridge and CJ (and Melo). Roy couldn't and actually seemed to resent the addition of Andre Miller. Roy wanted the rotation cleared of anybody who would consistently take the ball out of Roy's hands. he didn't give Miller a chance to develop any synergy with him until after Roy's knees fell apart

and Dame is a better leader
