Little's averaging 13 mpg and Gabriel 8. If we're gonna make any deep playoff push in Dame's prime it's gonna have to be in the following 3 years (not this year). Do people really see Melo as being able to make any contribution towards that push? I don't. I don't see the point other than our roster is so thin at the moment we need a body.

My take on Mello is that he has 34 year old legs and is being used in b2bs and playing not fresh. If we could keep anyone health we could cut his min and he would preform much better.

Little is hurt but he has been playing and will continue. Gabriel isn't even ready for the NBA. Got nothing to do with a deep playoff push. The Blazers will play Collins when he gets healthy.

Carmelo game high +15 tonight. But yeah, he's somehow a negative on our team.

Melo with a team high +15....meanwhile Trent with a near team low -7. The take-away for anybody who watched the game is that +/- for a single game is just about the most stupid & worthless stat there is. Maybe for 50 games, +/- is representative, but not for a game

    TS%:
Hassan Whiteside .642 Rodney Hood .625 Damian Lillard .624 Zach Collins .624 Skal Labissière .588 Trevor Ariza .587 Gary Trent .572 CJ McCollum .537 Caleb Swanigan .524 Anthony Tolliver .515 Nassir Little .513 Carmelo Anthony .509 Anfernee Simons .507 Mario Hezonja .498

    assist rate:
Damian Lillard 35.0 CJ McCollum 16.8 Skal Labissière 10.2 Caleb Swanigan 10.1 Anfernee Simons 9.3 Zach Collins 9.2 Gary Trent 7.4 Kent Bazemore 7.2 Rodney Hood 7.1 Carmelo Anthony 6.9 Anthony Tolliver 6.6

    winshares/48:
Damian Lillard .230 Hassan Whiteside .210 Skal Labissière .124 Gary Trent .090 Rodney Hood .089 CJ McCollum .070 Trevor Ariza .067 Nassir Little .055 Anthony Tolliver .035 Mario Hezonja .033 Carmelo Anthony .029 Caleb Swanigan .018 Anfernee Simons .010

    Box plus/minus:
Damian Lillard 7.0 Hassan Whiteside 3.2 Skal Labissière 1.1 Rodney Hood -0.4 Gary Trent -0.5 CJ McCollum -0.7 Trevor Ariza -0.8 Anthony Tolliver -2.2 Kent Bazemore -2.4 Nassir Little -2.9 Zach Collins -3.3 Mario Hezonja -3.5 Carmelo Anthony -3.5 Caleb Swanigan -4.5 Anfernee Simons -4.6

    usage rate:
Damian Lillard 30.6 CJ McCollum 25.8 Carmelo Anthony 21.7 Hassan Whiteside 19.6 Anfernee Simons 18.6 (hint: that's bad considering the other 4 stats)

looking at those usage numbers, it's pretty disappointing that the two least efficient players on the team are 3rd and 5th in the rate they consume possessions

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yup. +/- for a single game is incredibly volatile and subject to a lot of luck. If you just happened to be on the floor when a run created by other people happened, your +/- will be inflated. Over a longer sample size, the chances that you'd happen to be on the floor for every run without being a reason for them get smaller and smaller. But for a single game, it can very easily be completely luck-driven.

I’m one of his biggest fans but he is playing too many mins at the moment.

Get him down to 25-28mpg is more what he should be getting

in saying that he is drawing defenders when out there and actually working harder than he has seasons before.

What other options do we have - I find it funny when people throw something out but despite his performance last 10 games it has coincided with us winning more - maybe we need him to be less effective and just draw players to let the others prosper.

He still hits clutch shots..he can still take guys in the post..and teams have to respect him which opens up opportunities for other guys. He’s not shooting great, but when it’s an important shot he is making them more often than not. And his rebounding has been great

Good to see that CJ has edged in front of Swanigan for TS% rank....SMH.

    Truth.
Plus/Minus is stupid to begin with because it doesn't account for who else is on the floor. It's extremely high variance to boot.
Adjusted Plus Minus is not stupid as it accounts for who is on the floor, but takes at least a full season of data to become remotely reliable.
NBA Real Plus Minus is probably the best +/- as it reduces variance by (somehow, black box) using box scores as a supplement to +/-. Still would want a full season of data before looking at it.

Remember he's playing PF for us. 10.8 rb/48 is okay but not exactly great from your PF. And we're getting outrebounded.

Carmelo has been good to us since coming here, good leadership, good decision making, solid defensively, been part of the offense and not trying to force it. I think he's come to the right place and would be happy to keep him on a decent salary until he retires

I think it might be true that his presence is helping in intangible ways - perhaps people respect his shot and don't double off him, thereby making things easier for Dame. However, if he continues to shoot poorly, this won't work in the playoffs (see Aminu and Harkless last year - and they at least played good D).

He's a big upgrade over Aminu, his offense is to be respected and despite popular belief I don't think Aminu was much better defensively

Melo will be fine, and with Zach back, probably will be fresher playing less minutes.

Can't be gone soon enough. Thanks for plugging the leaks, Melo, don't let the gangway hit you in the ass on your way out.

Lol. He's no Raymond Felton or Darius Miles, but I still don't like him.
