But what do Gentry and Stotts have in common? They are both retreads that have had mediocre head coaching stints. Both are more suitable for lead assistant coach roles, as Stotts was in Dallas and Gentry was in Golden State.

Maybe it's the back to back to backs.

1 quarter of decent ball to tease us, followed by 3 quarters of crap. Does this team even want to make the play-offs? If they weren't committed to that goal, why is Whiteside still a Blazer?

This team isn't good enough to make the playoffs unless Dame is going nuclear, and why are we even trying when we're going to get flattened by the Lakers?

Sadly, it seems like that is very much the case. They had a nice little run but Dame had to play at a super-human, historical level to make that happen. As soon as that predictably went away, it's back to a lot like how they have been all year.

With every big lead blown and indifferent effort I become more convinced they need to take a weed-whacker to this roster. And please spare me the "injury" excuse. Nurk is the only high impact player we are missing, and that only applies if he can stay healthy.

I just look at New Orleans and they have a much much much brighter future and currently a better fucking team. Ingram, Ball, Zion with some really solid veterans like Redick and Holiday. Our team fucking sucks by comparison. Neil needs to go.

That 'better fucking team' is below Portland in the standings - the same Portland missing 3 of its 5 starters.......

They are behind us but so far are sweeping us for the season 3-0.

They started out slow but they have been winning a ton lately. Which team has the deeper roster right now?

Zion just made Whiteside his bitch tonight. Whiteside was lazy as fuck.

in other words, if Memphis wins tomorrow night they'll have a 6 game lead on Portland with only 26 games to go; Memphis would have 28 games left

if Memphis was to go 15-13 over their final 28. Portland would have to go 19-7 to get 8th seed (assuming OKC or Dallas doesn't collapse)

considering schedules, it's certainly possible, but Portland's margin for eroor is getting smaller and smaller

They've been winning a ton in the same way that we've been winning a ton - and again, they're doing it with their full roster (albeit no Ingram tonight). We are STILL without 3 of 5 starters.

why, because Whiteside could compensate for the speed and quickness of Zion? Nurkic would have likely looked almost as "lazy" if he was out there instead of Whiteside. Nobody could box Zion out and he played plenty of minutes while Whiteside was on the bench

I'm so fucking sick of the "3 of 5" starters bullshit. Nurkic hasn't started a game for a year and Portland has had Whiteside for 7 months...and another of the missing "starters" has started only 4 of his 146 games in the league
