All the discussion about whether ray allen is still the best shooter in the nba gave me an idea for a thread. Before I put down my opinion I want to hear who you all think is the best shooter in the nba?
Ray Allen, by far. He's the most consistent and just has the smoothest stroke in the game. I could watch him knock down 3's all day. I also think Michael Redd deserves a mention here.

Ben is another one of those guys whose an automatic scorer and while a bit inconsistent when he is on fire he is the best shooter in the nba. I doubt there is a perimeter player alive besides a prime gary payton who could slow down his 3 once it starts connecting a few times. For consistency and overall grace to the shot I'd say Ray Allen also though.
it's going to sound biased, but I'm gonna say Ray Allen, too. But I can honestly say I would have said Ray before he was traded to Boston. He has a very quick release, he can hit from deep and everywhere else, and he's very smooth and efficient. People also underrate his ability to shoot off the dribble, too. according to 82games, only about 55% of his jumpshots are assisted. That proves to me he can create for himself some too.

Ben Gordon is very, very streaky. When he gets hot, he can hang with ray allen, ( I assume you meant allen, not redd) but he can also have a bad night. Shooting isn't about just when you're on. You have to rely on a shooter all the time, and that's what you can do with Ray Allen.

I dont post anything biased. Yes since im a bulls fan praising ben gordons great jumper may sound like biasm but even if I wasnt I would still appreciate how great a shooter gordon becomes when he gets in the groove. If you read my post I said Ray Allen was the best shooter in the nba in my opinion anyway by the way.
I still think part of being a great shooter rather than being a very good shooter means consistency. That's what seperates guys like ben gordon from guys like ray allen and dirk nowitzki, and I'm just using those as an example. Hell, I don't even really think Michael Redd is that consistent. He is in the same class as Gordon.

He is having a late career rejuvenation I believe if anything. Michael Redd cant even touch Ben Gordon much less allen.
Ray Allen can knock down every reasonable shot on the basketball court with confidence. Many of the greatest shooters, such as Gilbert Arenas and Ben Gordon, are very streaky. Micheal Redd and Dirk Nowitzki are other options but I would say that Ray Allen takes the cake in this situation easily.
^alot of people underrate his ability, he can shoot the 3 great, but doesn't shoot it as much as some of the other guys.Right now its still Allen, then Redd.Gordon is 2 streaky for shooting. He shouldn't even be listed with Allen. Kobe gets on fire as well, when he is on fire he can shoot as good as anyone.

Part of shooting is clutchness, something I believe Redd lacks and Gordon more than excels at. also Gordon is no less streaky then redd is.top 5 pure shooters in my opinion1.Ray Allen2.Steve Nash3.Dirk Nowitzki 4.Ben Gordon5.Kobe Bryant
Gordon has a sweet jumper. his form is great even when its off the dribble, but Redd is not as streaky as Gordon.

Reggie Miller did it for years and years. #2.) Ray Allen is not past his prime. He still scored 26.4 ppg last year on a decent shooting percentage. His stats last year were about dead even with Michael Redd's. If he's past his prime, what does that say about redd?

They all have great jump-shots but they also have other aspects of their game that excell. I would put Redd higher than Gordon as well, Gordon is not clutch at all. I remember watching a montage of him missing all these game winners on ESPN.
