The prospect they got is vastly overrated. Tampa seems to like to draft Adam Foote's sons. The d son is a good prospect. This one IMO is a 4th liner at best. He isn't all that productive in juniors. It's his 4th year in the WHL. He should be dominating and he isn't. He got drafted because of his father. Probably should have been mid to late round second which basically turn into nothing 89% of the time. The first was a good return. Coleman is pretty good and he's locked up for a few more years. As I mentioned before. Tampa is beyond screwed next year with the cap. This move was made for a reason. My guess is that they will either move Stamkos or use Coleman to package with a guy like Johnson is a desperate attempt to unload salary.
This is a sellers market no doubt. We can get a haul for Kreider, and we should unless he takes a very team friendly deal (that's less than a 7 mill per AAV). We are not making the playoffs this season, so it will not impact what we do the rest of this year anyway.
You know Lindgren is good when a piece of shit Marchand is talking shit about him. Stating he won't be in the league for long. Yeah. Ok Marshit. You keep talking. You'll be long retired when he's just coming into his prime.
Foote's a solid prospect who could be a 2nd/3rd line player putting up 50 pts or so. If you're a NJ fan i think you made out pretty well in this trade, and getting a 2nd for Greene is a nice return. 3 1sts will definately pump some life into their average at best farm.
Foote is not a solid prospect IMO. When you play 4 years in the WHL and you are barely averaging over PPG, you pretty much are a long shot to do anything in the NHL. The first and second round picks are good if they could actually draft well which remains to be seen.
Yeah, but he's only 19 so he was in the W at like 17. I think he'll be a good 3rd line type for them who will probably be up sooner than later with their young roster over the next few years. Maybe a 35-40 pt type.
I think he's pretty much crap. Got drafted because of his dad's name. A guy like Barron is a much better prospect. Production is what matters. Not where some team drafted you.
Barron looks like he was way under drafted, but hopefully he can make it at the pro level. It would be cool to see Cornell win the title. Ciccolini seems like that type of possible under the radar draft pick maybe. For Kreider if he goes hopefully we can get at least a comparable trade, even though he's a pending UFA. I'd think it's a little more than what Coleman fetched.
Toffoli dealt to the Canucks. That makes Kreider the best available player by miles. The haul should be great if we deal him. To be clear on my position, I would only deal him for a haul. A 1st round pick and a NHL ready legit top 9 forward. I also would avoid dealing him to the Bruins unless their offer is far and away the best. Same conference, and the chances of him re-signing in his home town are high. I look to the Blues or Avs. The Avs may be the perfect fit. They have a ton of young talent, and Rantanen just went down with an upper body injury for weeks. Get a little bidding war going between division rivals who could meet in round 1 (worst case round 2). I understand as fans we get attached, but Kreider is 29 in two months, has a very long history of disappearing for long stretches, we are not making the playoffs this year, and if we are being real are most likely one more mid-level season away from being a legit cup threat (I think we can be a playoff team next year, but with a lot of dead cap money and Smith/Hank/Staal off after next season, I think we'll have one more year of growing and kids getting acclimated to the NHL). That means maybe at 30 for Kreider (he plays next season at 29) we are ready to win. I think we are better served taking a haul now, saving that 7 mill per to pay the kids in 3 years, and being ready to win the cup in two years with a young team that doesn't have any bad contracts. And in two years we'll also have Ziban at 28 up for a new deal.
Av's lost Rantanen for a while. Those clowns they have in net are not winning them a cup. I would think they would push hard for Georgiev but I'm not sure if the Rangers give him up. There isn't anybody ready behind Shesterkin other than Hank who is old. No idea what the Rangers will do at the deadline. I'm pretty confident they can deal Staal with some retained the way he's playing. He's probably been told he won't be making the team next season with Hajek and Rykov in the minors. If he has any clue, he will accept a deal. I'm thinking for the first time there is a good chance Skjei will be moved. If they want to sign Kreider, there is the money right there. Who is more important. Kreider or Skjei. Clearly Kreider for many reasons. The main one being there are lots of candidates in the farm to replace Skjei. Toronto's defense sucks ass. I would think a deal around Skjei and Kapanen is very possible and makes a lot of sense.
Toffoli is a vastly overrated player. He's not that good. Trading Kreider would be dumb the more and more I think about it. He's clearly a leader on this team. Maybe the leader which you keep forgetting Rangers. I told you already. There are all kind of ways to get rid of salary. Girardi is off. Strome doesn't need to be signed. Smith can be bought out. Staal can be dealt or bought out. Skjei can be dealt. Hank can be bought out or retires. There are lots of ways to keep the team in decent cap shape. All I needed to hear in pre-season was how many of the young players go to train with Kreider. That was enough to make a huge case to keep him. JD isn't stupid. Nor is Gorton. It would have to be a deal where they get a can't miss, young player who projects as a top 6 forward for them to deal him. I don't see that deal happening.
You may buy out a player next year, but I don't think that is needed anyway. The issue is not next season, the issue would be 2 or 3 years down the road when the kids need raises, and Ziban needs a raise as well. As for Kreider, he is not a 7 mill per player. It would not be a good move to sign him for that much, and in 3 years we'd be paying for it. I don't see Gorton doing it, otherwise it would be done already. If he agrees to a team friendly deal of 4 or 5 years between 6-6.5 mill per I resign him. I do agree on Skjei, and I would look to deal him to the Leafs as I called out last week. His NTC kicks in next year, and I don't want to be stuck. Plus there is no way we keep Kreider, Skjei, and TDA, so moving Skjei could benefit us there as well.
Chris Krieder. Krieder has absolutely taken a leadership role on this team maneuvering the youth movement, that being said that doesnt make him untradeable under any circumstance. Krieder has put himself in this position by playing the way he has over the course of his career, hes proven to DOMINATE games when hes motivated, then he disappears for 20 games and gets paid to skate around. I do think krieder may have finally put it all together, but he could just be on a hot streak, time will tell. Regardless, where we are now as an organization with krieder he is simply not a 7Million dollar player, he just isnt. His highest goal totals and point totals to date are 28goals in a year and 53pts in a year up to date, is that a 7million dollar player? The Rangers need to trade him for a sizeable haul and if they really want him back try their best to sign him in the offseason. As far as the rest of this roster goes, being that we arent near a contender status. The following players should be explored for trades, Strome, De Angelo, Buchenevich and Skjei....Smith if there is a taker. So I think Strome and De Angelo should be traded while they are both having career years, they will both be overpaid in my opinion and arent worth betting the future on with the prospects we will having coming up in the next year or 2. Buchnevich is at a point where I believe we are seeing his ceiling, I think hes got good skills but isnt a finisher similiar to anisimov. Skjei unfortunately just isnt progressing, similiar to Del zotto he just didnt improve after his rookie season. I was hoping he and Trouba would form the #1 pairing we wanted. Smith should be a salary dump if its possible for whatever you can acquire.
Fast is also a guy they need to get something for right now, though I've seen reports that they may actually be thinking about keeping him around and re-signing him. Good role player but i wouldn't get into more than 3m on him.
Quinn said on the radio that he expects to keep all 3 goalies at the deadline. IMO, they are trying to force Hank out. I guess he is really leaving them no choice.
Joey Keane just dealt to CAR for forward Julien Gauthier. Guess they are trying to add forwards for surplus D prospects which seems like a good idea. Gauthier is a former 1st rounder.
Love this deal. He was one of the players I mentioned for Georgiev and that Carolina has drafted really well with forwards. 6'4, 227lbs 26 goals this year in the AHL. Rocket of a shot but maybe shoots too much from reports which would be welcome here.
Kreids another goal and 2 assists and was just physically dominating on the ice. Rangers just cannot trade this guy and it looks like they may have added the young tough forward that can skate and score in Gautier who came in a great trade by gorton swapping out excess D with the Carolina for their excess forward. Get him signed gorts and figure out the cap later. Plenary of ways to do it. In addition, we are only 6 points out of a WC spot
I suppose the kid has to get used to the system and they can't afford to give points away but it's disappointing to not see the kid with Panarin right away as they continue to use no offense Fast there.
