Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. "This guy has an amazing wing-span, very impressive. - I hate the word 'wing-span', I use arm-span, because human beings don't have wings."This upcoming kid, only a freshman, is going to dominate the NBA" - I hate teenagers calling NBA prospects 'kids', it's annoying, and I think can only be used when your 15 years older than someone. Even when I'm 25 I'm not going to call and 18 year old 6'6" 220 pound guy a 'kid'."He's going to be a 20/10 player in this league" I hate the phrase 'in this league', we already know what league it is, just say he's going to be a 20/10 player.
Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. I don't like the phrase: The Charity StripeI don't really know why but it seems as though it takes away from the value of free throws. Alot of players work very hard to improve their free throw shooting, calling the free throw line free points annoys me.
Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. Pretty much everything that Jack Armstrong says...Raptor fans will know what I'm talking about here...
Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. ^I agree 100% lolAnd I don't like some of the phrases that Chuck Swirsky says also.

If you watch some of the Laker games from the Showtime era (hell, even from way before that), the announcer is probably him. He coined so many phrases its not even funny.

Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. What most of you dont understand is that, when your an announcer, your paid to make broadcasts more interesting. Instead of just saying 'Wow this player has long arms' every time Rudy Gay makes a dunk, you say 'wow this kid has a huge wingspan'. Instead of saying 'Wade will now go to the free throw line' 15 times a game, he says 'wade to the charity stripe'
Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. I don't necessarily hate this, but I find it funny (for some reason) when people say "tickles the twine."

They definitely don't have a script so of course they'll improvise; the level depending on how much the announcer actually loves doing his job.
Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. "Boom goes the dynamite!" I know this is old but it still cracks me up. He is so terrible!I hate the phrase "From downtown!" Worst phrase ever!
Re: NBA 'phrases' that you hate. "oh baby what a play by king james"or"king james"or"lebron james"or"d-wade"or"dwyane wade"or"wade"or"flash"or"you can RRing it uP from downtown that goes out to Leo Sanchez of Hamilton Ontario, he is a great basketball fan and is enjoying raptor ball right now."
