Not a Dog, but why start a new thread?

Washington state ‘road hazard’ turns out to be lost 600-pound sea lion, sheriff says
By Stephen Sorace | Fox News
    [IMG]

A 600-pound sea lion was found wandering along a forest road in Washington state Sunday, “a significant distance” away from any water, authorities said.

The massive mammal was spotted on Garlock Road, outside of Castle Rock, a city just north of the Oregon border, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials said they believed the sea lion had ventured so far from its normal waters by traveling up the Delameter Creek from the Cowlitz River.

Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Corey Huffine took a “selfie” with the “unexpected road hazard” before backup arrived.

Deputies, along with staff from the Humane Society and Cowlitz County Public Works, were at the scene for several hours until the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife could come with a trailer, the sheriff’s office said.

The agencies worked together, using plywood boards to corral the “wayward” traveler and guide it into the trailer. But the sea lion didn’t appear too happy, charging and barking at officials before staring them down outside the trailer in a video of the encounter.

Once the sea lion was coaxed into the trailer, officials said it was safely transported back to the Columbia River.

If this does not make you wonder why there are only German Shepard officers, what will? What kind of a society do we have when Breedism is alive and well among those that should serve, and protect.

A beloved dog becomes a part of the family. Too bad they have short lives.
When I was 11 my beloved dog died. My mom, my brother and I cried for what seemed like an eternity. I'm sure it stretched on for several weeks. I couldn't have been hurt more had it been one of my parents. I got to visit him just once at the vet's. I kick myself to this day because I didn't ride my bike the half mile to see him through all the congested Portland traffic every day. It still hurts every time I think of him and he died over 60 years ago. Every time one of you guys talks about losing a dog I think of my dog, Tonto, faithful companion.
Will this pain never go away?

    Edit:
ps I had a lot of problems growing up and my dog was my backstop whenever I felt life was too much. I did nearly everything with him. He would even follow me to school and stand on his hind legs with his front paws against the building looking in my class window just to get a glimpse of me. That kind of love demands that I love it back and equally.

The place I was going to take him to posted on facebook tonight that they're closing doors to people.
Still will taken patients. But people will not be allowed in.
Instead they will meet you outside, take your animal in then bring it back.
Yeah that's not going to work for me. I might end up in jail tomorrow. we'll see.
As much I'm going to miss him, as much as it hurts, I will be with him in the end.

I've had the vet come to my house when I've had to say goodbye to my dogs. It's not expensive and the dog gets to go to sleep in the comfort of their own home.
