Hindsight is 20/20, but even at the time he made more sense to me. Any of you Bulls fans wishing Pax would have just kept Aldridge instead of Thomas?
Last year, pre-draft, I thought Toronto should have taken Aldridge #1. When they didn't, I thought he was a perfect fit for the Bulls. Then Andy Katz announced the trade, and all I could think to myself was "why?" Tyrus Thomas is an excellent talent, and he's gonna be a very good basketball player, but Aldridge is what they need and may be the better player in the future to begin with. Now, you could make the case that Chicago needs a post presence more than what Aldridge brings to the table (he can play in the post, but he likes to shoot those 15-18 footers too), but I still would have taken him.
I'll never understand why we traded aldridge. It will come back to haunt us, but tyrus should be a pretty good player soon also. I think we'll see alot more from him in the coming season.
I really think it doesn't matter. Lamarcus is doing good now. But thomas did show that he can play as well. Hes going to be a great rebounder and shot blocker. and im sure once he can start hitting those 15foot jumpers that he takes hes going to be alot better.This season im sure tyrus is going to get alot more playing time so he will get better. Im not disapointed at all.. Even I wanted lamarcus. But hey when has paxson really let us down?

Still I am not sure that it was that bad of a decision trading Aldridge. Thomas and him were both considered projects at the time of the draft. And I think they will both end up being very solid starters in the future.
I wanted Aldridge before the draft. Thomas wasn't even my top three or four. But right now I wouldn't take Aldridge over Thomas. The kind of impact that Thomas has shown he can have on a game is something that Aldridge will never be able to do. The only problems is that Thomas was really inconsistent, and made a lot of mistakes at times, but as a 20 year-old rookie that's expected. Thomas has to develop some kind of a jump shot to be more effective.

He may not become an allstar player, but hes at least good enough to be a great bench player. Hes got the potential to be great and I think he can. So far in his first summer league game he scored 17pts 7rbs and 5blcks, to me hes more of an impact player than Aldridge will ever be.

Tyrus Thomas is nowhere near being a 3. From seeing him at LSU for that season he was a pure PF. He was a shotblocker, athletic rebounder, and got most of his points off of lobs into the post. He didn't handle the ball much neither did you see him going outside and popping threes. Everybody else wanted to mold him into a Marion-like SF, but I don't think that will maximize his skills. I know he was working out with Randy Livingston on his jumpshot in Baton Rouge before the draft, but he's a 4; a shorter Stromile Swift. His defense is there, but that jumper will give him an offensive game since I don't see him being a force scoring points from the post-up, back-to-basket position all of the time.
