I think Bernie knows he's done. This debate was about trying to force Biden as far left as possible before he goes.
Hillary is retired and will stay that way. Biden is picking a woman to be his running mate. I don't know who that will be but I think Kamala Harris would be better suited as Attorney General, a position in the most populous state in the United States that she has filled. I think Biden's woman selection will be either Senator Warren or Senator Klobuchar. Either one is fine with me although Klobuchar is closer to his thinking I suspect that Warren has a lot of appeal to women.
I felt a little bit the same about the free stuff proclamations, but they were all good and should be considered goals to work toward. Baby steps.
Joe Biden’s Platform Is More Progressive Than You Think Pretty good article, which gets at something I've been saying--while Sanders is obviously far more progressive and ambitious in his scope, even Joe Biden is going to come in to the left of what Congress will be willing to pass. I like Sanders' (and Warren's) agendas more than Biden's, but none of their agendas are going to get fully implemented. Biden is still going to push the country more towards the left, with the main constraint being what Congress will pass, not his ambition or lack thereof.
Here come the establishment attempts to reconcile with the ‘Bernie Bros’ they’ve been shitting all over past few months. They just remembered they needed their votes.
Biden’s history in politics directly negates the entire premise of that article and it’s headline. His current “platform” suggests a lot of things that I can assure you will never come to fruition. The game right now is to get votes, and those votes are held by pissed off progressive Bernie supporters. Biden’s fake progressiveness will be on full display until Bernie is out of the picture. Then he will morph back into a Republican centrist to try and snatch a few votes from Trump.
Yes, and we could be equally assured that Sanders platform had a lot of things that would never come to fruition. We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think Biden's current platform is fake, I think that's where he actually resides politically. His "history in politics" is incredibly irrelevant in determining who he is today because all politicians change based on the trends of the nation and their own constituency. His platform was less progressive than most of the other candidates and yet still reflected the leftward drift of the Democratic establishment. Hillary Clinton, another pilloried "centrist," was advocating far more progressive proposals than she was associated with in the 1990s--that's not because she "faked it" in 2016, it's because the Democratic party has moved left, and Clinton (and Biden) moved with it. They're still not "revolutionaries" like Sanders and never will be. They're establishment through and through--but the establishment keeps moving with their base and the Democratic base is unquestionable more left than they were in the 1990s.
... I respect your opinions quite a bit for an internet person, but this seems to be one of the weirdest posts I have ever seen you make.
If anyone genuinely thinks Sanders is the better candidate, get off this stupid board and volunteer for his campaign.
Hey...here's something you could get excited about... https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/487897-biden-allies-see-warren-as-potential-running-mate
