Also, they are letting non-violent prisoners out, most of them will be added to the homeless/street population, and they already have demonstrated they will not obey laws/rules/authorities...
I think that they're busing them to beautiful, sunny Central Oregon. They're confident that the sunshine and fresh air will keep them healthy.
Prisons and jails are notorious for being breeding grounds for disease. Don't want any of that disease getting out and about. I guess we could crowd them all into rooms with iron bars and douse them with gasoline, then light a match. You'd have to wear hearing protection.
It does not. Oregon labor laws and Federal labor laws prevent that. Many businesses were already massively hiring because many of their employees already stopped coming in.
That list is kind of weird - there's a lot of fringe type businesses listed, and no mention of fairly standard stuff like hardware stores. It reads like the list of businesses you'd come up with if you asked a group of stoners for their ideas. barfo
I know, I've read that several times and it is still very unclear. They list a bunch of randomly specific businesses. For example, my store isn't specifically listed but it is kind of in a "strip mall" center so it technically is closed but the rest of the center is mostly restaurants and Safeway/Rite Aid who are all allowed to stay open? So basically my whole center isn't closed?

Our governor and other leaders, even now, are still saying people should go for a walk, go for a bike ride, get some fresh air and sunshine...which is essential to maintain good health and a strong immune system. Problem is they shut down nearly all the parks and other places most people can do that. Not everyone has their own private park/wildlife reserve as I do. 3/4ths of Portlanders can't even afford their to own a home let alone acreage. Thankfully, Oregon is about half Federal public lands, which are still open and easy to find solitude on.

Brings up a question. Why are buses not on the list of can't do's? 40 people crammed into a bus, plodding around town seems like a virus factory. Because Tri-Met owns Portland's government.
Only parks that are closed and other places that are closed were closed because people were going there and congregating in large groups. These are mostly people who belong to the Trump cult and believed all the bullshit about the virus really being a nothing burger. They are immensely feeble minded and don't give a shit about others.
