<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Orlando Magic withstood a furious late rally from the New Jersey Nets to take home a victory in their first game of the 2007 Pepsi Pro Summer League Monday night, 85-74. Orlando guard J.J. Redick led all scorers in the contest with 30 points, tying the record for the fifth-most points scored in a game in Pepsi Pro Summer League history. Three Nets registered double-digits on the night, led by Marcus Williams? 19 and Robert Hite?s 16.</div>http://www.nba.com/magic/news/070907_njnorl.htmlSo I didn't get to watch this or anything, I was busy, but I have read what has happened. Great to see that Redick is starting out well, and getting used to the shooting range. 30 points is very inspiring, and may very well work him into some playing time this season. However, Stan Van Gundy wants to see how well he does on the defensive end to. Our second round pick from 2005 Martin Gortet did a good job, 10 points and 12 boards, which is good. Maybe he will be that other big man to come in and help us out this year. It's a great place to work for some playing time in the future. We also won this game, 85-74, which is a great start to summer league for us. Hopefully we can keep it up against Indiana today.

http://www.nba.com/media/magic/070907_njnorl.pdfHere is the boxscore for the game. Some notable stuff for this box score...James Augustine had 11 points on 5 of 6 shooting, and 5 rebounds. I would like to see his rebounding go up, but his scoring was pretty decent. Martin Gortat had 10 points and 12 rebounds, however he was 2 of 8 from the field, and had 5 turnovers, which does not look good. He has potential with the rebounding, but he needs to do a better job of shooting and keeping the ball if he wants to stay on the team. JJ Redick was 7 of 18, including 4 for 6 from down town, and 12 of 12 on free throws for 30 points total. He also only had 1 turnover which was good. His shooting really seemed to shine on this one, hopefully he can keep that up. I gurantee shooting like that come practice, and pre-season will find him some playing time.No one else on the Magic is really worth noting, as they won't make the team anyways. For New Jersey, Sean Williams seemed to be over-whelmed down low. 2 points on 1 of 3 shooting, 1 rebound, 8 fouls, and 4 turnovers, talk about not good at all.

in my opinion, I think that as impressive as this is, for reddick I think this only means that he was a good college player because before the nba last season, he was like this, everybody thought he was great. then in the nba he sucked. now before the nba he isnt playing any real competition, so he shines... I know players gain experience by time, but you only gain experience by playing against the better people. so basically what im saying is he probably could have done the same thing before entering the nbaeven though im not exactly sure how he did last summer league
