OB, that was posted before and I'm not sure what the point is. It came from Fox news so I'm sure what their motivation is and that's to defend trump.

but there's little more in that articles besides the headline saying "US best prepared". There's no description of criteria used or data applied. I'm assuming that's explained if you follow links and spend a few hours analyzing, but I'm not going to bother because it's irrelevant IMO. It doesn't mean shit

we don't know what assumptions were used. The articles does say the analysis was done in 2018 and 2019, so the first question would be if the assumption was the US had a leg up because they had a pandemic response team at the top of the Homeland Security department. But of course, trump and john bolton effectively disbanded the team in 2018; probably because it was important to insulate trump from people who used science, facts, and logic to inform policy. Can have that near Captain Ignorant

and we don't know how much of that study was based upon the CDC's past ability to implement testing. If it was substantial, then the massive failure of trump's version of the CDC to develop testing for Corona destroys a big part of that study.

and I don't know how much of the assumptions were based upon infrastructure and supply inventories. But those don't matter if there's refusal of leadership to accept reality and scientific projections and modeling, with the result being critical delays in activating infrastructure and delivering supplies

in other words, there's plenty of evidence that trump's ignorance and ideological conceit undermined whatever mechanisms we had in place to combat this pandemic. Quick reactions by the federal government including directives to states were absolutely needed, and none of it happened. Instead it was 2-4 weeks delays in response and for a disease that spread exponentially, that spells disaster

finally, because that article was promulgated around the net to defend trump, we need to add the context of today to the issue. And today, there are two things that are clear:

    * 1) the narcissistic sociopathic imbecile in the white house may be actually denying aid to states led by governors who don't kiss his ass. That would be fucking criminal. These are life and death situations and if trump is essentially willing to let mothers, and fathers, and sisters, and children die in states like Michigan and Washington because of his horrible vindictive ego, we've reached a new low.

    * 2) trump is pushing hard thru his statements to revoke all the measures states have taken to combat this virus and "open the economy" back up, even though anybody with a brain AND a functioning moral compass knows the arbitrary deadline trump wants is bullshit. This is all about trump's re-election campaign, that's clear. It's not about what's best for the nation

bottom line: what's ironic is trump supporters posting that study to defend trump. But the reality is if the US was actually best prepared (which I don't believe), then it's an indictment of trump's leadership, not a defense

first time i had seen the link including here. I was passing it on. Nothing more. Your assumption that im defending trump is a big issue though. stop assuming. If i was posting it to defend Trump, i would have stated as much.
I didnt even read the rest because if its based off your first statement, you already drove down the wrong road.
Not trying to be a dick, but i really am getting tired of not being able to post much of anything unobjectively without being tossed into a sect, or whatever trump haters wanna call it.
Seriously. Would you all knock that off already?

No, it's not. Trump is denying certain states medical equipment because he doesn't like the Governors. This will cause people to die who might have otherwise lived. He is in effect killing people.

All he cares about is himself. He is an insecure, butthurt, arrogant ass who is playing with the lives of American citizens.

that's bullshit....read my post again and tell me where it was I attacked you specifically for the post you made

you posted a link...I reacted to the fucking link and I didn't attack you personally. If you interpreted my reply as such, that's your problem reading things between the lines that weren't there

so no, I won't "knock that off already", because I was expressing my opinion on something posted here. And I'm noticing you didn't respond to a single argument I made; you just decided to be hyper-sensitive to a response. I've posted plenty of links in this forum and have had plenty of push-back and opposing views. I almost never take the push-back personally. I suggest maybe you should knock it off

You are quoting the governor of Michigan whose statements may or may not be true.

Trump told Pence not to call the governors of Michigan and Washington. That's certain and if you believe that's as far as it goes you haven't been paying attention to the last 3 years

They are true. I am not just relying on her statements, but on Trumps own words. During a press conference last week he told Pence not to work with certain Governors including Inslee and Whitmer.

It's as plain as day what Trump is doing. It disgusts me that he is risking/costing American lives because he is butthurt. And it disgusts me to see people defend his actions.

Trump has also said that he's only nice to people who're nice to him. He also directed Pence not to contact governors who have been critical of his response.

So, it's a bit more than unsubstantiated comments.

Why are you assigning my name to a quote I never made? I thought maybe I forgot about something I posted, but I looked through my history and I never posted that. Why would you do that?

    You quoted the following:

    I never posted that.

That was directly from Trump's press conference yesterday. If you watched it you would understand the context. Pence has contacted the governors even though Trump said that. It's just more twisting things to fit your narrative.

He didn't "direct" Pence to do shit in this case. He made a statement based on his feelings at the time.

There is so much hypocrisy from the pro Trump crowd, it is hard not to drown in it. Remember their cries during Obama's health care fight about "death panels"? Opening up the economy and easing pandemic restrictions prematurely is basically a death panel of 1. Trump and his Republican cronies are deciding that it is ok for old/immune compromised people to die to get the economy back on track. Of course, this is 100% at odds with their pro-life position as well.

What if this pandemic was during the Obama years, and doctors found that stem cells from aborted fetuses could cure people of the virus and get the economy back to normal? You think any of these same Trump supporters would be ok with that trade off?

And I'm not going to even go into denying states supplies and help because of Trump's hurt feelings towards their governors. Death panel.

But sure. Vote for him again, and complain about Democrats. Just don't expect me or others to ever take anything you say about morals seriously ever again. Your opinions are no longer valid.

Alright I'm going to spend my time doing something else for a while. I hold no ill will toward any of you. Our opinions certainly differ on some subjects though. LOL.
