I think so. I think this guy has a ton of talent, and he was a great 2nd round choice. He definitely wasn't NBA ready when he was drafted, and he's still probably not. But I think his game is very similar to Monta Ellis', and he could have that type of breakout this season, or the next.He has a good jump shot, but he usually relies on his quickness to get to the rim instead. His ball handling and driving skills are great, and he's a pretty good passer. He's just so damn explosive, it's amazing to watch.I think their games are very similar, but after watching him vs. the Warriors in summer league, I'd say his court vision is a little above Monta's, and maybe Monta's quickness is also a little ahead of his. If he played in a system like Golden State though, he'd definitely break out as early as next season.I think he has a chance to become a very good offensive player in the NBA. He should get some minutes next season. What do yall think?
I don't know; he came in as one of the best scorers in the nation out of HS and his range was amazing. I don't think his shot is as refined as Monta's, but this guy can definitely put up points. I believe he can have an Ellis-like season with playing time off the bench, but only as a scorer as he needs to work on his D and he was never a great passer to be a real point. If the Sixers are trying to find somebody to be their point guard in the future, they should give him more time next season because this guy could eventually have an Allen Iverson-type impact on that team and that city.
I personally haven't been all that impressed with him. He has talent, he has raw potential, but I don't know if he'll ever put it all together. He plays very sloppy and he's very turnover prone, he's never in control. He's still young, but thus far I'm not very impressed. Some people are raving about him because of the summer league numbers he has put up this past weekend, but I've watched him in both games. While he has shot the ball well and used his quickness to his advantage, he still can't defend a chair and he is a very poor decision maker. He still has a long way to go.
I like Louis Williams, but I don't think the Sixers should have another score first PG again, like Iverson. Louis Williams sure has a lot of talent and potential, I just don't want the Sixers passing up good PGs in next years draft because they believe that Louis Williams will be that guy. He needs to tone down his turnovers, he is great offensively, attacks the basket really well. However, I wish he was a pass first guy.

Only time will tell, nobody is right or wrong at this point, but I personally am not half as impressed with him as some are, and I'm skeptical on whether or not he'll ever be able to put it together.
He was a good 2nd round choice because it's a good risk-reward situation...you get a young player with a ton of talent, but if he doesn't work out you didn't spend the number 1 pick on him.I think he could eventually be a 15-18 ppg player in the league, but I don't think he'll ever be a 25 ppg scorer. I think he'll end up being a respectable player.
Louis has impressed me the past two summers and he will only get better. I think over time his assists will go up.
I watched him play a bit versus the Lakers in Summer League. I understand what CB32 is talking about now. The guy really can not defend a chair. I saw Jordan Farmar blow by him with absolute ease. I bet you I could score on him if I tried my hardest. His basketball IQ is definitely not there yet, and I overrated his passing. His court vision is okay, but he really doesn't know how to run an offense right now. And his decision making is definitely below average. Scoring wise, he is great. He's as quick as anything, and great at penetrating through defenses. He can finish very well around the rim too. He got two and 1's where he was fouled and he sort of shot it up there. He's got a pretty good tear drop jumper. So if he improves on his basketball IQ....I.e. watches tape, etc...and learns how to run an offense, I think he could get SOME minutes next season. His scoring ability is off the charts.

I've always loved Louis, and I've been a fan since his HS days - I've even watched him in person a few times.. His athleticism is crazy, and his scoring ability is top notch but he doesn't posess the IQ to be an effective PG. Right now he is still more of a SG, because of his lack of vision and IQ. He'll always be a great scorer, but he's just got to keep working on taking care of the ball and finding him teammates.. You know he can keep up with these guys on defense but he's just got to be committed to being a good defender - he can be a good defender with all that athleticism..He'll improve as a PG but he'll always be more of a SG (ala Allen Iverson).. I loveeee watching him play though, he's my favorite player.

Pretty much everyone could related to Iverson he won't be that kinda guy on or of the court. But I been saying Williams is better then yall all thought for how long now? People really underrated him he came right out of high school it is not easy to make that change with no college. And I saw little of summer league play this year he made some nice passes.
He could potentially be our starting point guard, but I don't think he can be the starting point guard of a championship caliber team (and I hope he proves me wrong). At this point he turns the ball over a lot when he plays against NBA competition, but other than that I don't have many negative things to say about him except that he tends to get out of control at times and his jumpshot needs a little work, but he's still young.Anyway, don't look into summer league stats, because if they were any indication of how a player will do in the NBA, then John Salmons would be better than Michael Jordan. That dude tore up the summer league his first few years.

Before I never watched D league. lolI think Williams needs to work on his jump shot for sure I agree, but he be good being underrated for sure as I said.
