I think enough time has passed to discuss this. Most of the major offseason moves are behind us and the draft is over. who will be the champs this time next year?

Like I said last year, Phoenix Suns. They added a MUCH needed bench player in Grant Hill, and Barbosa and Amare are still improving. I feel they should have beaten the Spurs this year, and with the Spurs being 1 year older, the Suns will have an even better chance this year.Darkhorse- Houston Rockets.. :drunk:

Houston Rockets and phoenix suns are much too soft to win a title. Defense wins championships. Its too early for my prediction but I think there's definately a chance the bulls could contend next season. I honestly think the bulls could beat the rockets if they were to face them in the finals.

How about Hornets over Pistons 4-2? :dunno: It could happen.

If you are using Bulls as a guage for a team that has the defense to win a ring, then you hav eto do the same for the Rockets, who had the top rated defense in the league.I believe the Rockets are 4-0 against the Bulls in the past 2 seasons, and I knwow for a fact they were 2-0 vs them this year. T-Mac gives them too many problems. Defensively I'll give the edge to the Bulls, but offensively Houston is a MUCH more potent, consistent team. They'd also have by far the 2 best players on the court.

The Cavs beat the spurs twice in the regular season and we saw how that went. Not only could noc shut out tmac(or at least keep him in check) but now with the addition of joakim noah we have a big body to match with Yao along with Ben wallace's help defense he would be little of a threat I believe. That leaves mike james, bonzi wells, and rafer alston. Im sure Hinrich,Gordon, and Deng could more then put up whatever points they manage. As seen by the utah series, if you can control yao+tmac the rockets are a easy team to exploit.

I don't care who you put on Yao, he will never be a little threat. Wallace played him almost as good as you can play him, but Yao still had 20/12. Ben Wallace and Noah are simply too small for Yao.Battier can guard Deng, Gordon is too streaky to kill you in every game of a series, and they don't have enough offense outside of those 2. Give me Houston's consistent offense of Yao/T-Mac, and nice role players in James/Alston/Bonzi/Battier/Head over the Bulls' very streaky offense.T-Mac and Yao weren't really controlled. T-Mac and Yao both went off in game 7, but forcing Yao to guard Boozer gave them endless trouble. That wouldn't be a problem against Chicago.PS- You are wrong, Rockets held team to 92.1PPG on .429 shooting to the Bulls 93.8PPG on .435 shooting.

bulls will contend, but they need a scoring big man to win.I think the winner will no doubt come from the west. Really, I think its the mavs year. Theyve got a major chip on their sholder after getting killed by golden state, and I think they have what it takes to go all the way.

I like the Spurs in a repeat as boring as it is and as much as I hate to say it. A repeat is really the only thing hindering Tim Duncan's legacy as one of the best ever, and he does deserve it. I thin the Spurs win it and it opens a new era of the NBA in 2009.

Dallas Mavericks. They are going to be more motivated this season due to being an almost 70 win team and lose to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA playoffs. Dirk is probably going to be more prepared and I have a feeling Harris will breakout. They are still basically the same team they could have gotten really deep Western Conference Finals , if they didn't play the Warriors in the 1st.

The Mavericks. They are going to be a team on a mission, hopefully theyve learned when to turn it on....not in December...but during the post-season. They are more experience than anyteam short of Detriot and Spurs, they can play good defense, half court offense and fast-break offense. Its just a matter of peaking at the right time...

To be honest, I don't really understand what this whole "Mavs are gonna be on a mission this year" crap is all about. Yeah, that's what I said last year. If the Mavs do win a title this coming year, it won't be because they want revenge.

Who knows? Really, their are 3 teams in the West who have great chances at being the NBA champs. It's really hard to say at this moment. If I had to pick right now, I'd say the Suns have a real good shot. I think they'll be even better next season.

I think the Rockets may have a very good chance if they sign Francis and that works out with T-Mac him and Yao. If only they could get Catino back as well....Oh well
