I think the new reports were that the lab studied the natural pathogen and one of their lab workers accidentally got infected.

The head scratching was the idea the virus started in the Wuhan Wetmarkets, yet that market didn’t sell the bats in question. Could be the reason why they opened that wet market back up just recently. Could show signs that China knew that market wasn’t the cause.

Covid-19 wipes out the last 11 years of job creation:

    upload_2020-4-16_10-6-31.png

I don't think I've ever seen a graph spike like that

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/coro...nitial-jobless-claims-april-11-192401571.html

they are now talking about flattening the curve for unemployment claims. I guess flattening the curve will be part of the new lexicon. A couple of years from now we'll be talking about flattening the curve of Blazer opponent 3pt FG% in the Stotts defense

    also:

    upload_2020-4-16_10-11-51.png

looking at that map, it's pretty obvious that the economies of the 'open' states aren't enough to make a difference for the national economy. No wonder trump is thrashing around and threatening all kinds of nuclear options

The more I read the more it seems this thing isn't going away.

I say end of the month and everything should be open. Keeping people from different states out isn't going to do anything and keeping international travel stopped isn't going to do anything.

Destroying the economy to stop something we can't seems like a waste to me. How long do you think we can do this, years?

There will be riots in a few months. Wait and see.

Its not going to matter when we open, the virus will continue to spread, it's just it would be nice to have some treatment till we get a vaccine. Plus if we can keep it down some we wont overrun the hospitals.
My thing is, we don't want to tear the house down, in order to save it, at some realistic point we need to open thing up.

It's quite the coincidence the plot to Contagion suddenly happened in real life

Yeah, it’s almost like a damn Hollywood movie. I think the epidemic medical community are worried this will shut down labs (only my opinion), which maybe the reason for resisting to support this story.

I don’t know why they’re worried. Their labs weren’t the one that accidentally released this.

I don’t think this has anything to do with Republicans. This guy would never vote Republican. But he may not vote Democrat either. That takes away votes too.

we have such poor perspectives in this country right now. No patience at all

we've been in covid-lockdown for a month. That's it. One measly month. The great depression lasted for 10 years...10 long fucking years; and they had the dust bowl in the middle of it. And from that, we had about an 18 month recovery and then went into 4 years of WW2. From 1929 thru 1945. That's nearly 200 months and the country held together and came out the other end stronger. But our current society and politics are fractured and failing after a month

we are still struggling to understand the virus. We don't have any widely effective treatments. We don't know the actual rate of infections because of massive, repeated, and predictable testing failures. We don't know if people can be re-infected because they don't produce enough anti-bodies; which in turn means we don't know if there will be effective herd immunity. We don't even know how long an effective vaccine will take. We've been caught with out pants down and they are still wrapped around out ankles

yet, a sizable number of people want to say fuck-it and reopen the economy even though we have no damn clue what that would mean, but all the educated guesses say it would be a disaster. Continuing the lockdown isn't just about flattening the curve. It's also about gathering enough data to be able to set intelligent policies while re-opening parts of the economy in a diligent fashion.

just saying "a month is long enough" because we're frustrated or the clown in the white house is worried about re-election is the opposite of intelligent and diligent

Your claiming multiple labs released this virus?

    Apples to oranges.

Commodities were not the same. Lifestyles were not the same. Right or wrong, Americans are much more dependent on the economy now, than they used to be merely by the fact that more people were do it yourselfers back then compared to now.
...If I cant fix it with my laptop(google), I need to call for help....

Completely different times and the only thing that really brought us out of the great depression was getting involved in the war and turning MFGs into war factories(not saying it was a bad thing).

Oh no. Not at all. I’m saying other labs are concerned with this reporting, in fear their labs would be affected.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Looking through his history of tweets, it appears he's simply not a fan of the Democratic party. There have always been black people who don't like the Democratic party--Democrats have never won 100% of the black vote and there are black conservatives. Finding one black person who "may not vote Democratic" isn't all that remarkable.

How do you know he wouldn't vote Republican? I'm just saying the Democrats have done more for African Americans than the Republicans ever will. The idea of reparations have been talked about and it is probably only a matter of time before they happen. I wouldn't be surprised if it is something that would be considered once the Dems win back the Senate.
