He is staunchly against Republicans. I would even be confident those that follow him feel the same way.

He is not just one man. He has major influence with a lot of Black Americans. Look at his followers and the responses by his followers. It’s a pretty big demographic

Yeah, the Democrats tend to win between 85-92% of the black vote. 8-15% of the electorate (black voters who don't vote Democratic) is significant. There have always been black people (influential and otherwise) who claim that the "real racists" are the Democrats. I guess I'm not seeing the special significance to this, that hasn't been there for generations.

I am confident that the majority of African Americans will vote Democrat in November...as long as they are allowed to vote by the Republicans.

some of these fucking talking heads are so far gone it's unbelievable.

who the fuck is Dr. Oz???

    * "Dr. Oz said, "First, we need our mojo back. let's start with things that are really critical to the nation where we think might be able to open without getting in trouble."

    * "Schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in the Lancer arguing the opening of schools may only cost is 2- 3% in terms of total mortality and that's - any life is a life lost, " he said.

    * Dr. Oz continued,
"But to get every child back into a school where they're safely being educated, being fed and making the most out of their lives with the theoretical risk to the backside might be a trade-off some folks would consider."

yeah, I know it's a far left website but the 1 minute video is from fox news

    https://crooksandliars.com/2020/04/dr-oz-want-schools-reopen-because-only-2-3

in other words, if schools reopen and 5 million children get covid, 100,000-150,000 dead children is an "appetizing opportunity". Is this guy insane?

Dr. Oz is a huckster who got sued for peddling random supplements as solutions to things they have no proven effect on.

disagree completely because I'm not talking about the particulars of crisis. I'm talking about national reaction and response to catastrophic disruptions in what was normal

I think the faster people understand that the new normal is different from normal, the better.

Schools will reopen (probably next year) - but I suspect it will be in a different form, in CA they are talking about dividing the attendance - for example, 9th, 10th grades in the morning, 11th, 12th in the afternoon with a lot more space between kids, temperature checks every morning, much different PE classes etc...

The same is probably going to happen in a lot of work areas, where people will do a lot more work from home stuff - and they need to restructure the physical offices / clocking in etc...

There will obviously be a lot more sterilization of work areas.

The right thing is to rush and understand how this will be done, instead of rushing to reopen as usual - which is just a disaster in the making until effective vaccines and cures are easily available.

It is important to be quick, but be smart about it. Unfortunately, most of our leadership was slow on the important stuff and now want to err on being quick where they should not.

The hoped-for-significance is that if these outliers are highlighted, maybe someone who would have voted democratic will decide not to vote.

Also, you know, the lines at the polls are sooooo long and both parties are the same and what's the point anyway, everything is controlled by corporations/the illuminati/aliens/Carol Baskin.

Well, okay then but what were the catastrophic circumstance of then and what did it force the average person to do?

I think that because we have changed so much, how we are able to spend our time being self sufficient has completely changed form then to now, this leaving people more vulnerable now with less ability to fend for themselves for a longer duration of time.

The particulars of the crisis determine the mobility of our economy. It it was a crisis of war, we would be kicking it in all gears right now.

The particulars of the crisis absolutely have an impact on how to respond.

It's judicious to put together plans and guidelines to reopen the economy...so everyone has as an idea of how it will work. It is reckless to prematurely instate those plans and cause thousands of unnecessary deaths.

Not to worry, Trump is about to reveal THE PLAN. I have no doubt it will be detailed and well thought out, Jared does excellent work.

The Republicans got only 7% of the Black vote in 2016. Getting the black vote isn’t as important as Democrats getting theirs.

The reopening is just going to backfire. Just watch. Trump has to get the economy going to save his presidency though. It's the only way for him and he knows it. That's why he's fighting so hard.

ok then...they didn't have the internet, cable TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, or S2 back then. We have some advantage in particulars (although s2 might not be helping)

and while millions of GI's risked their lives fighting the Axis, now, millions of healthcare workers are risking their lives fighting covid

my main point though OB was that the country has only been on lockdown for a month, at most. Hell, Oregon's stay at home order wasn't in place till March 23...that's a week less than a month. People are acting like things have been locked down for 10 months. It's kind of loopy
