I’m sorry, can’t reveal that buddy. You can discount it if you don’t believe me.

Florida beaches will start reopening THIS EVENING: Jacksonville becomes first county to start easing restrictions - despite state's RISING COVID-19 infection rate - after Trump handed control to governors with three-phase plan to reopen America
    • Beaches in Jacksonville will be among the first in the United States to reopen to the public this evening
    • Socially distanced activities such as walking and biking will be permitted - but sunbathing has been banned
    • Republican Mayor Lenny Curry said: 'This can be the beginning of the pathway back to normal life'
    • Many slammed the decision with coronavirus cases still rising in the state, but others welcomed the move
    • It also goes against Trump's re-opening recommendations that cases should have declined for 14 days
    • Florida officials were criticized for not closing the beaches during spring break as COVID-19 cases spread
    • The state reported a death toll of 668 on Thursday, a 24 hour increase of 54 deaths since Wednesday

    I find this funny.

So in walking and biking on paths there is a large chance of coming closer than 6' of others. However with Sunbathing, you are in a fixed spot that you can choose the distance. But lets ban sitting in place in favor of moving around and possibly passing by infecteds....

    Got it. Florida...
    @theprunetang

How do you feel about this? Just curious.

there was talk a few days ago here about the possibility that California had a rash of covid infections in December that built some herd immunity. An epidemiologist has attempted to debunk the rumor:

you can follow that link to enlargements of the graphs he uses.

IMO, some of the reason for the chatter about previous herd immunity in the left coast states was to find an explanation other than the measures the states took and the willingness of the citizens in these liberal states to cooperate with state government recommendations

    wut??

I'm aware of one poster here who said something along those lines in a fever of hyperbolic overstatement. But to conflate that into "people wanting death and destruction to those who disagree with them" is over the top in my view. That sure looks like hyperbole every bit as excessive as what you are condemning

a lot of people here get revved up in the political food-fights that break out all the time, and there's plenty of excessive bullshit pumped out while chasing the best 'last word' or harshest burn. I think it would be a mistake to conflate things said in those heated arguments with anything more than just that

This doctors advise seem's sound to me, but Im not a medical professional.

Directives from public health officials to stay home are an effective way of slowing the spread of COVID-19. However, unless we remain socially distanced until an effective vaccine is available, it is only delaying inevitable exposure. The real goal is “herd immunity”’ – sufficient numbers of people in our community immune to COVID-19.

What if we purposefully exposed young and healthy people to the virus? This could be followed by testing for antibodies against COVID-19 to prove immunity. Immune individuals could then be released back into the community since they could no longer spread the illness. This exposure could be done in stages, and at numbers that would not overwhelm our medical system.

Before the varicella vaccine was available, parents would purposefully expose their kids to other kids with chicken pox. After a miserable week of fevers and an itchy outbreak, the child was over the illness and immune from re-infection.

To me, it makes sense to have a set number of young and healthy people purposefully exposed each week (on a voluntary basis). Exposure would be followed by 14 days of quarantine and antibody testing. Such a program could first be tested on those who are lowest risk – healthy, fit people from 20 to 30 years old, followed by people from 30 to 40, and so on. With this approach, we could be building immunity in our community in tandem with slowing the spread. It would also provide a way to more quickly get back to normal life.

You could be right and I hope you are, but when all you have to go on is what you read, what else is there?

Also, that one person had said it several times blatantly clearly and had those posts liked by several people if I recall correctly. There have been several others, And dude, I have respect and interact with some outside of here, That have beat around the bush, but insinuated that anyone disagreeing can feel the wrath... so to speak.

yeah, in all fairness, i'm probably over the top, but if I am its only because i've been reading over the top posts that have not been corrected by those individuals.

    Lets look at this example.

I have a couple neighbor cats that keep coming over and taunting our indoor cats through the window and our indoor cats are acting up over it. Spraying and what not.
I said the other night to my wife.. " Fuck. I hate cats". Now she, being my wife, KNOWS I don't hate cats and that my frustration is about a few cats, not all.

But if I would have said I hate cats on here, everyone would simply think I hate all cats.

Lack of clarity and explanation leaves to confused and sometimes incorrect assumptions and reactions. However it is not the receiver who should be forced to mind read. Its up to the distributor to clearly identify what he means if he is making blanket statements. Without explanation, you can only take the words for what they are, correct?

Another example. @theprunetang is a great person. I have met him and he is on the up and up and wants the best for everyone. However he has made statements on here that could conflict that knowledge. However having known him, I got the gest of his meaning without thinking it was over the top. However some on here that relationship[ isn't established and until it is, or there is a clear explanation defining a statement... its taken at face value.

Its not up to me to discern who is over the top and who isn't. Its up to those (like i'm admitting here I was probably over the top) to update and clarify any misconstrued opinions)

I wonder if they can do that here in NV. It was late January when whatever was going around spread.
My boss said he thought he was going to die. Negative for the flu according to him.
