I'd say I agree with that for the most part. I'm not so sure Barnes is the perfect guy like whoever wrote this seems to think. I also highly doubt we'll end up signing him.The Chucky Atkins signing should be finalized any day now and hopefully Eddie Jones will follow soon after. Those two would be able to come in and make an impact right away, combine them with everyone else and a healthy Kmart, I think we could be a very good team.Atkins / AI / CarterAI / Eddie Jones / JR / KhoubaMelo / Kleiza Nene / Kmart / Najera / EvansCamby / Nene / SampsonAfter a full offseason and training camp together, I think this team could surprise some people.
Aight first of all AI was shooting great in Denver over all until the playoffs. He just happened to be of.2nd AI shot about 5-7 less times a game then he did as a Sixer in Denver so he did take a step back let Melo be the man. In playoffs maybe he did force a little to much, but that is what super stars do then they get it going. He just had a bad playoffs run I don't think he should have stoped shooting. And if you pay attention Melo forced as many if not more shots as Iverson he just was having a good playoffs run sorta atleast. lolAI should be moved to PG I deff agree I been saying that since he came there. And if they win 50 they won't be out first round at very worse 2nd round. Unless they play the Suns/Dallas/Spurs and they won't as a top 4 seed even 5 they are going to make the 2nd round.
SERGE1st A.I. didn't take a step back. How could he take a step back if he shot it more then carmelo??? its melo's team not his...yes he took fewer shots then he did in philly, but look at the sixer team...point is he took more shots then the 2nd leading scorer in the league and that should never happen... 2nd if carmelo is killin em and nene is scoring at a series high 58% why not give them the ball?Instead A.I. kept shooting instead of thinkin bout the rest of the team.He missed like 72 shots on the series which is only like 25 fewer then melo even attempted. A.I. is nice but this is Melo's team...

I do not think Melo shot less then 17 times a game. And first of all I never said it is AI's team. So stop making crap up. AI took a step back let him be the man, but I still feel and a lot of fans like it is both there teams =.Again he was strugling in the playoffs he was doing everything your saying passing everything reguler season since coming to Denver. And might I add I am sure Karl said Melo+AI do your thing and that's all he does not set plays. And again learn to read buddy never said it is AI's team never said it. And AI took a step back, but most fans still feel it is both there teams.I like Melo my 5th fav player about. But the guy forces to many shots sometimes when you have Iverson, Nene, JR Smith ect..............open don't tell me he don't force shots also and during reguler season more then Iverson. Since coming to Denver AI shot 45% over all out side of the playoffs, and did not force shots like Melo until playoffs when he was just strugling. And super stars gotta shoot them self out of a slump if he did they would have advanced he just got a bad break the series was of.Again you say I said stuff I never did try reading.

Why wouldn't you when you've had that kind of scoring success in the playoffs. He was just unfortunately never able to get things going. I agree he was forcing shots too much, but he was just trying to get out of that slump. Plus other than the playoffs AI clearly did take a step back. AI aknowledged from day one that he would take a lower role to Melo. AI clearly went from being the player that takes over the game and dominates the offense to the playmaker that sets other people up. If you watched the Nuggets play a lot after that trade you have to have noticed that.

A.I. is nice but this is Melo's team...</div>In case you didn't watch the Nuggets this season, Iverson did take a back seat to Carmelo Anthony, and not only in the regular season, but also in the playoffs. Carmelo was the one forcing up shots when he was triple teamed, not Iverson. Iverson got the looks he always gets, but he was in a shooting slump caused by a bum shoulder and elbow bursitis. Also, if you're suggesting relegating Iverson to being a glorified role player who scores only 20 PPG, then the Nuggets were better off with Andre Miller and Joe Smith. The whole point of bringing Iverson in to Denver was because of the way he played, and that means putting up shots. It was about keeping the defense honest and not allowing them to focus solely on Carmelo. I agree they should have dumped the ball down to Nene a lot more, but that is Karl's fault... he apparently has a problem with running set plays.Anyway, if Iverson kept feeding it to Carmelo, the Spurs would have simply just loaded the strong side defensively and shut Carmelo down. AI needed to shoot, even if he missed, because it kept San Antonio from completely throwing everything they had at Carmelo. Part of the reason Anthony had the success he had was because San Antonio was forced to play Bruce Bowen on Iverson more than he played on Anthony.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>point is he took more shots then the 2nd leading scorer in the league and that should never happen...</div>That is some stupid reasoning right there... if you look at it that way, then Carmelo takes more shots than the player with the third highest PPG average in NBA history, and the highest active PPG in the playoffs. That should never happen... (if you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic because you're reasoning is idiotic).<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Camby23Land @ Jul 15 2007, 02:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I haven't been keeping up with the Nuggs too much lately, but are you sure that we are keeping JR? Plus I don't think his value will be too high depending on how teams view his injuries from the accident a few weeks ago... Plus, I think Denver needs to keep him anyway.
They might have said that now that I think about it. Great post.We do need him if he can work affectively along side 'Melo and AI being a spark off the bench. He needs to accept his role on the team, he isn't the star player or the goto guy in the clutch. I think with time he will accept that role also. Atkins will be a nice addition. We won't have to worry about him going off on us again like he did last year.

We wouldn't trade him just for the sake of getting him off our team.I definitely think he can still contribute and be valuable to the team, he was just never really able to get back into the form he was in before the suspensions. Before all that he was our #2 scoring option, playing great with Melo and I think he was averaging like 17ppg. Then when he came back, he had to learn to play with two completely new PGs, adjust to coming off the bench and deal with Nene's breakthrough, all while also fighting an injury.I thought the way Karl called him out through the media was a horrible thing, especially to a young kid like JR who still has the potential to become a good player. Most importantly, I think he just needs to mature, and I think the whole car accident will help that a lot, it also would be great if he could develop a more consistent shot.I'm not sure where you heard he didn't like AI, I never heard that anywhere.

As the Nuggets called him last season, he is a one man comeback. I remember a game in the season when we were down by like 12 and put him in and he hits one or two 3's and then drives to the hoop gets our whole team pumped and energized and we go on to win the game. That is what we need out of him, a spark off the bench. He needs to hit the 3 more often also.

That is way to small man. Iverson can play PG so why not use him there. And play JR at the 2 he is tall he is athletic. He can maybe come from behind get a block somtimes helping out from were a inside guy won't be able to see him cause JR got hopes. But mostly he has active hands you know how hard it be on teams with AI+JR over there with how active they are at getting steals. That I think will cause problems for teams more then some even bother to think about.Knight be a good guy to add sure I agree.
